Pros
Excellent travel benefits and a chance to develop professionally. it the may for we are got to it may are who got but and no
Cons
Business environment for airlines prohibits investments into new products / services. it the may for we are got to it may are who got but and no.
Pros
Terrific group of people. Flight benefits are great.
Cons
The airline industry is a very tough place to be now a days. Management at American Airlines seem to spend all of their time trying to get a head in the company rather than dealing with any of the actual problems of the company. As a result, the company continues to hemorrhage money.
The company had decided to not give out yearly raises any more. To get more money you must change jobs. Of course, the hiring manager is under no obligation to actually give you a raise.
Pros
Nice people and interesting work
Cons
Salaries are below market
There is a corporate wide salary freeze in place
Past salary increases were limited to 1.5% per year
The only way to obtain a salary increase is to get another job offer or obtain a higher job group position
Silos in departments create barriers to implementation of projects
Pros
Flight Benefits, People, Reputation, Competency of Management
Cons
Compensation Package is well below other local companies
Employees are not fairly treated based on years of service. Senior Management shys away from making important decisions addressing management compensation.
Advice to Senior Management
Management bows to union compensation but does not make changes to Management compensation.
Pros
Unless you have family that will require you to spend 13 to 15 hours on an airplane and pay over 1000 for an airline ticket, there is not other reason to work for AA
Cons
It's all about who you know. The CIO is a very arrogant fellow who promotes his friends while others do all the work for below industry salaries.
Pros
The people that I work with are from all over the world so it makes the job interesting..
The travel benefits are the best in the industry.
The flexibilty of schedule is favorable.
Cons
The compensation plan is not favorable to the union work groups.
It has been a struggling industry since 2001.
The travel industry has changed since I began my career.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember that the union work groups made alot of concessions during the tough years, compensation should be make accordingly.
Pros
Travel -- if you can get on a flight. Medical benefits were always better than other companies I was familiar with. Rewarding if you can help people.
Cons
The nature of the industry really changed and became more difficult. Part of it the airlines created for themselves and part of it is the entitlement mentality of the travelers. Company sometimes more focused on on-time performance than customer satisfaction.
Pros
Benefits, work-life balance, management, ability to make improvements
Cons
Pay, communication, work from home ability
Advice to Senior Management
increase pay
Pros
Great if you want to travel. Great job while attending college or just as part time gig for the flight benefits and insurance. There is great flexibility.
Cons
Management is picked based on who you know and not what you know. If you have logic you are working at the wrong company. No appreciation from managers. They are s
Always out to get you. Too many politics and too many small minded people with egos incharge which in turns screws up the operation.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of all the middle management. Stop hiring people not because you know them but because of their capabilities
Pros
The travel benefits are outstanding, if you use them.
Cons
If you're a family man who is not able to travel the world, you'll find yourself not using the company's best benefit - the nearly free travel privileges. The benefits also attract employees that are young and interested in hopping all over the world, which is fine, but it doesn't make it easy for the older employees to develop relationship when all anyone ever talks about is where they went that weekend. That, and the turnover is ridiculous. Two years max and you're expected to move on, and all roads lead to Headquarters @ DFW.
Raises are non-existent unless you move around, even laterally. It takes 1-2 months from the time you interview for a position to the time you receive word that you didn't make it.
Advice to Senior Management
You have to motivate your employees by paying them for their performance. We've gone years without a raise. The quarterly bonus check of $100 is a joke...
