Pros
Great benefits, great people, focuses on Safety
Cons
Salary not keeping pace with the rest of the airline industry
Advice to Senior Management
Promotions are needed to maintain good personnel
Pros
Travel benefits are great, but better for spur of the moment. If you want to make sure you get there, buy a ticket because the flights are so full. The airline business is interesting and there's never a dull moment.
Cons
The business of running an airline seems ancillary to providing operational statistics that can be analyzed. Promotions, particularly in the field locations, seem to be handed out based on "high school" attributes as opposed to actual knowledge or even ability to manage people. There are too many managers that don't "help" or "hurt" the company. They might as well be on vacation. The same can be said for people that don't work there at all. What's the point? As you might imagine, accountability is lacking.
Advice to Senior Management
While I think Mr. Arpey is OK and certainly knowledgeable, there is a vast void of leadership at the next level. Many Sr. VP/VPs of today would be eaten for breakfast by the old CEO, Robert Crandall. It's time to clean house.
Pros
when I got hired we were the leader in airlines.
Cons
Management has let down the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Retire
Pros
Good travel and health benefits
Cons
Some positions are very repetitive type.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should be encourage to more profesional training
Pros
The benefits, for now, are great. If you can use them. Healthcare costs are raising through the roof and IF you can actually get on an aircraft (flights are ALWAYS full) then it's okay.
Cons
Everything right now. If Our top 1000 management would not take HUGE multimillion dollar bonuses every year while claiming we don't make any money, it would be better company morale.
Advice to Senior Management
Top management needs to be replaced.
Pros
Fly anywhere for minimal fee. Great Brand Recognition. outstanding employee health insurance program, tons of happy, nice, helpful people to work with
Cons
work scheduling very conflicting. some supervisors with nose 'up in the air' towards recent hires, part-time seems to be forever...
Advice to Senior Management
upper management seems to be OK. the front-line management people need to be called upon
Pros
The employee travel program is a major benefit to working for the airline. The people can be very friendly, depending on who's flying that day.
Cons
Job Security is not always there. The airlines are volatile. It's a constant struggle between management and union, especially during contract negotiation time.
Pros
The ability to choose our hours when no on reserve. The ability to pick up hours.
Cons
Lack of respect from management.
Advice to Senior Management
More positive management style would work better.
Pros
Can get good experience, to further your Career. Must maintain a positive and professional work ethic because work place not a professional as may seem.
Cons
Level 4 and lower management, does not encourage positive work enviorment by reflecting on their behavior. But positive work environment is encourage by management verbally. Not by their action. Compliance of company guidelines not enforced fairly for all. Please keep in mind from the outside things seem professional. But from the inner circle you will come to a realization of a whole new reality.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to do better with employee relations. Management seems to shy away from making positive changes, without having to go through loops. Can't manage with an Iron Fist, Can't bring down the Hammer, as a fix.
Senior management needs to reassign or replace managers with numerous Human Relations issues. After all you wouldn't tolerate if an employee behaves improperly to the companies customers. Then why are certain managements improper behavior seems to be tolerated when directed towards employees. But must also note this type of issue may not be wide spread through out company.
Pros
staff memebrs are very engaged
Cons
Information sharing is a challanegm, but an oppurtunity for success as well.
Advice to Senior Management
There is a lot of oppunrtunity for improve, but it will be challenging.
