Pros
Flexible Schedule, ways to 'beat the system', and the money for how easy the job is.
Cons
Long, uncomfortable days with no place to sit and relax, no food, rude passengers, layovers so short that it's impossible to get even 6 hours of sleep (minimum time 'behind the door' is 8 hours, which doesn't include getting undressed, unwound, and asleep, or waking up and getting ready to be at the plane an hour before we start getting paid)
Advice to Senior Management
Your Front line employees are the KEY to the success or failure of the company. Listen to them intently, give them what they need, make them happy. We understand these are trying times, but I feel we are in a position now where it's time for the Co to give back our paycuts, at least part of what we lost after Sep 11.
Pros
It's great to work for a large company for obvious reasons, you get a benefits package including, but not limited to 401 (k), dental, health, vision, vacation and possible pension. I have a somewhat flexible schedule. We do have a phenomenal website that includes company programs, discounts and information. There are also volunteer opportunities abound, and with a click you can find many of them. Obviously, it's great to work for an airline. When you do get time off and have money, and can get space on an airplane, you can take trips all over the world for a reduced rate.
Cons
It's an airline with poor management. We keep taking benefit and pay cuts while management gives themselves multi-million dollar bonuses. We don't even make a profit. The work conditions are unsafe. Maintenance constantly is called to fix a problem on an aircraft and they just duct tape it and sign off in the log book. Pieces are broken all over the aircraft and in the lavs and galleys. I'm constantly hurting myself at work, whether it's a sprained wrist or cut finger. Our layover time has been reduced drastically while our working days have gotten longer. We're tired and grumpy all the time.
Advice to Senior Management
GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK AND STOP STEALING FROM ALL THE EMPLOYEES!
Pros
The free travel benefits are great - that's why most of us are here. I really can't complain about the salary for my job, esp. when you consider the great flexibility we have with our schedules. Local management at our location is very pleasant to work with and for the most part very respectful.
Cons
Lack of respect by senior management. Lack of overall company direction and vision. Unhappy customers. It seems like the company doesn't know what it wants to be or where it's going.
Advice to Senior Management
Wake the hell up! The happiness of our customers trickles down from the top. If your employees aren't happy, neither will your customers. Oh, and how about sharing the wealth. Senior managment took huge bonuses and passed over the line employees who have made huge sacrifices.
