I have been working at American Bank part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Close group of people. Relaxed. Since it's owned by one owner, they base EOY bonus on earnings. Very strong community bank. Well respected in the community.

    Cons

Since it is a small bank, it's harder to get promotions. You may have to spend more time in a position than you prefer. They will let people go within the first 90 days if you don't do your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk around and get to know the staff.

    Account Manager misleading title

I worked at American Bank full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic work culture and environment. Super down to earth employees and management.

    Cons

Its a cold calling high pressure sells telemarketing job. Thrown on the phones right away with high expectation to generate leads for the bankers but don't train you at all or explain the products. If you can lie / bs confidently then you could do well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't mislead people during the interview about what the job is with terms like warm leads or client relations. Aquire quality leads and spend a week or two to properly train your employees.

    Pros

sit at your desk all day. the people in the office were nice and energetic to work with. They are open to hanging out after.

    Cons

The "provided leads" are pretty much cold calls even though they refer to it as a warm lead. They also boasted about their realtor connections that did not exist.

    Pros

Great people, they are really nice and kind.

    Cons

The work is very tedious. All the time was spent making cold calls to customers who don't want to speak to you.

I worked at American Bank full-time

    Pros

Great work culture, young, fun atmosphere. Potential to make a lot of money when on commission.

    Cons

Start off with a dialer/headset. They want you to stay on salary if you are doing well, that way they don't have to pay you, but force you to go on commission if you are not doing well. Basically a sink or swim situation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be a little more straight forward with how inside sales works, don't blow smoke.

    Pros

Seriously None. Hire a recruiter that knows business ethics and that has a degree so future employees arent scammed

    Cons

Recruiting is very misleading. Told to expect to make 50,000 the first year. Hardly anyone does. Promised a lot of holidays which arent there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect your employees with degrees and PAY them!

I have been working at American Bank full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Wish there were some. The title company that the bank is associated with pays for happy hours once every three months which is nice. Free food at a bar every 3 months=awesome perk.

    Cons

You are paid commission only after 4 months or so of a base of 30k. The hiring managers will tell you that there are 5-6 bankers making 100k and over which is not true. The top producer is on pace to make 55k. The only positive reviews on glass door is from management. They bribe their employees to vote them a 'top place to work' so they can attract recent college graduates.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decrease your pay and increase employees pay. You have about 90% of your staff looking for other employment. Get rid of positions that play on the internet all day.

I worked at American Bank full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Fun, surrounded by some good people, leaders, and those who want to see you succeed.

    Cons

Pay structure made it so you had to close a certain number of loans before you could actually get paid. I was within the top 3 of sales my last 3 months there and was still completely broke. Worked long hours to close deals that you just couldn't close. Zero room for growth opportunities.
