I worked at American Central Transport full-time for less than a year
Pros – seems to be working for those guys that have been there for 5 or 7 years. They are taken care of but new drivers hang on for a tough ride and constantly trying to push the lease on you and so make your life as a company driver a sheer hell. They might as well be driving the truck for you and you are simply holding on to the steering wheel.
Cons – Apu's don't maintain temperature in the truck and you are not to idle it so you wake up in the middle of the night and you have ICE all over your windows then they give you a route that is not necessarily the practical route to take so you may find yourself fighting Chicago traffic for 4 hours when you could easily have come a different way for only 19 more miles and save you 4 hrs o driving in a bad snow and lots of accidents area but what do they care they are sitting in a nice heated office and no putting up with traffic and don't want you to deviate from their plan. Nice... so maybe they need to drive it then or better yet let their computer drive the darn thing and no open door policy neither. You complain about that or not getting miles and you are gone... Bunch of pompous arses running around in there. Figure you are just another driver and drivers to them are 10cents a dozen so you want to waste some serious time go for them and apply there. Good Luck
Advice to Senior Management – You kidding?.. The president is a lawyer and even he seems to be high all the time. Walks around with a 5 day old beard and stares off into space while talking to you and keeps rubbing his chin and swipes his nose. Man is clearly high.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
