I worked at American Chemistry Council full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

ACC is a place with incredibly smart people, an amazing CEO who will actually take the time to learn your name and a wonderful HR department. The benefits are great and I had a pretty good work/life balance. Overall people are incredibly friendly and willing to help.

    Cons

The cons I have are more to do with the nature of a trade association. It's often hard to accomplish anything because you have to have dozens of member companies agree on a goal and it's a lot like herding cats. Plus having a mix of more conservative members and more progressive members makes a lot of your work as an employee of a trade difficult.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

    Pros

People are very talented in their functional area, hardly ever any weak links on a team. Very professional and member-oriented. Solid management, decent but not great professional development opportunities.

    Cons

It's the chemical industry and people have a lot of preconceived notions about that field, some true, some not. The members are extremely skilled in what they do, but the industry is very mature and conservative. They innovate in products but not mentality.

    Advice to Management

Provide more professional development opportunities and clarify the qualifications necessary to reach promotion or come in a certain level/title. There is a lack of consistency across levels and departments.

I have been working at American Chemistry Council full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I hired on here more than a year ago, and it has been a marvelous experience! The upper management is approachable, friendly, and driven by a clear, concise mission. That mission drives the entire organization. We get clear, achievable objectives and the latitude that we need to execute mission-critical projects. The physical plant is conveniently located within the Union Station complex, making the commute a breeze. The benefits are great, and the time-off policy is competitive. The management does encourage a good work/life balance, allowing folks the space they need to be productive and still have a personal life.

    Cons

So far, I haven't found any!

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Everyone is very friendly and nice. Seeks to provide a comfortable working environment with good benefits and salaries.

    Cons

Issues are very challenging-- it's a lobbying shop and they are very aggressive in defending the industry almost to the point if not bring on the right side of issues managed

    Advice to Management

Allow for more diversity in staff in terms of backgrounds to allow for a more balanced approach to advocacy reflecting thectrends in the more progressive companies in the industry
