    Pros

You work for 28 days and get 28 days off. You get to see parts of the rivers that you wouldn't see when on land.

    Cons

Being away from family foe 28 days can be hard and if in a relationship both need to be able to keep it alive while one is gone.

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook

    Pros

    Money and the time off

    Cons

    never being home at all

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote people who ARE qualified, NOT because certain wheelman wrote a letter for them. Quit "buying" hiring people outside the company and bringing them at top out pay. While you tell the in house employees if they want top pay they have to meet qualifications and fill out paper work. OH and DONT force tankermen to work 28/14. There is not enough 28/28 boats. Being told to go 28/14 from 28/28 or find another place to work is NOT my idea or good management. It should be called American Kirby Lines

    Pros

Jeffboat is an outdoor sport. The management team has bright spots in its leadership. The work is exciting and provides a hands-on experience.

    Cons

There is a lot of turnover in welders and classifications that support the shipbuilding. The future is always in question. Job security is a real issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce the team at Jeffboat to allow the workers to have a sense of job security. It is tough working there in the elements and even more difficult if you have to worry everday about your job security

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO

ACL - No career advancement but a pretty relaxed place to work

    Pros

The atmosphere is very relaxed. As long as you get the work done, they don't care how/when you do it.

    Cons

There are almost zero possibilities for career advancement. Unless someone above you dies, you can expect to stay in your position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees instead of turning away from very real problems.
