Pros
Manager of the store I was at, was willing to promote.
People I worked with
Cons
Seasonal work, Summer was busy, winter wasn't
Pros
Internal teammates are great! One of DQ's best assets is the corporate staff.
Cons
Very little room for growth
very old school mentality
no support staff for some departments,
very focused on home office employees, field staff is an after thought
Below industry average salaries
Advice to Senior Management
Half of the companies employees work in the field, the corporation needs to find ways to engage the field staff and find growth opportunities. There are virtually no promotion opportunities for anyone in the field.
Pros
Working environment is easy going.
Cons
Employees are unable to keep their personnel life and troubles out of their work life.
The pay does not match the amount of work required.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow for more growth through the company. Provide more training opportunities. Improve communication to staff.
Pros
they offer many career opportunities
Cons
sometimes it can be repetitive
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
Security in the job
Family oriented, management really cares about you as a person
If you are content with just a "job", this is the place for you. If you are looking for a "career", not a good fit.
Cons
Lack of personal growth and development opportunities
Hard to advance within, you only get promoted if somebody leaves
Technology is lacking
Advice to Senior Management
Need to hire an outside company to evaluate each dept and its logistics & needs. Needs to look at re-evaluating the hierarchys in place to make more sense.
Pros
meet people. excellent customers. great place to take the family
Cons
coming home everyday covered in ice cream
Advice to Senior Management
Try getting some AC in some of your stores. Can get pretty hot
Pros

-Work/Life Balance Priority
-Delicious Product
-Interesting Brand
-Franchise Experience w/ one of the Most Experienced Franchisors
-7:30am-4pm Office Hours Offer Ease for Childcare and Traffic Avoidance
Cons
-Long Tenure of Employees Can Stifle Innovation
-Franchisee/Franchisor Relationship Is Complicated and Enforcement is Not Consistent
-LImited Career Development Potential and Lack of Training
-Lackluster Headquarters Environment
Advice to Senior Management
Please consider longterm Strategies and communicating them regularly to the employee base.
Pros
Let's face it, in this economy, even a basic minimum-wage job might be better than nothing at all. If you can respect the institution it serves as not only an ice-cream shoppe, but a point of nostalgia for older customers (usually in their 50s or 60s) or parents with young children, then it might give you a sense of pride.
Cons
A highly broken chain of command depending on who the local manager/owner is. Unsanitary conditions. High accident rates around equipment and unsafe surfaces. Frequently rude customers. Deteriorating, obsolete technology makes doing one's job more difficult and less efficient.
Advice to Senior Management
Please, invest in newer and less-complicated register systems. A few non-slip floor mats and stain-resistant flooring material would do wonders for the place as well.
