    Pros

Great discounts for Jean Experts. 3 items at 80% off, 12 at 60% off, and everything else at 40% off.
    Managers are awesome.
    Great music playlists.

    Cons

    Some customers can be rude.
    Pay could be better.
Extremely fast paced during holidays/ peak season.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be nice for a pay raise for sale associates/Jean experts.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The clothes are right on track with the trends. The discount is pretty good with a catalogue book of 60% off items. Regular items not in the book are 40% off and then clearance is additional 25% off. If you happen to be a denim expert or stylist you get three 80% off items each floor set. Fun environment to work in and you meet tons of new people by just working there for 6 months.

    Cons

Hours are based on availability, credit cards you receive and loyalty cards you get per shift. If you don't perform with Credits and Rewards you don't get hours. Some weeks you are heavy scheduled, others you might have only two or three days off. If you work floor sets, you will be expected to work extremely long hours over night.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not much room to move up unless you are favored and new a member of management prior to getting the job. American Eagle likes to hire from within the company and it's common for managers to be transferred from store to store which makes it hard to have a consistent work flow with constant changes coming and going.

Beneficial for career in the industry.

    Pros

Great discount, many contests to win free stuff, expert program gives a fantastic discount, health benefits good

    Cons

Push too hard for credit cards, rewards, emails etc. some stores are more difficult to reach the same goal than others. Goals should be store specific. It's retail for work/life balance sucks if you're the type who want to spend time with family. You're expected to be loud and over the top to be effective.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some goals should be store specific. Treat co-workers like human adults...not baby pets. Give time for training and stop expecting so much during training. Not everyone has to be loud and over the top to be effective.

    Pros

Fun environment, company values, co-workers, opportunity to grow within company.

    Cons

not too flexible during the holidays, but then again, what retail store is around that time?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management in my store was great! As far as leadership goes, maybe better training for those who are in charge of floor sets. A team can only be do so much without guidance.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company gives great incentives to their employees to perform at their best-contests, ratings, employee of the month. Managers keep track of each employees scores and ratings in unit per transaction and average dollar sale. It was nice constantly being pushed to do better

    Cons

The pay is not worth the stress whatsoever. I was there over 5 years and still made minimum wage when some people were there 2 months and made significantly more than me. Sometimes incentives aren't fair and some employees get better treatment for wrong reasons. I didn't appreciate the lack of respect especially when I gave my all for that company for over 5 years. The managers took advantage the weaker employees that didn't stand up for their rights and that was wrong. The company needs to choose better management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees with more respect and give everyone equal pay. Raises should be an occurrence and they're not for most employees and that is wrong so this needs to change.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Energetic teams and hard working people willing to work all hours.

    Cons

Lack of integrity. The company is built on values that are not practiced in upper management. If you can not relocate you will not move ahead. I was appalled at how field management was spoken to by corporate partners. This company did not match my values and how people should be treated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a clear path for the company. Treat your team with respect and value. Speak to people in a fair and respectful way. There are too many conflicting priorities and teams should never be expected to work constant overnight shifts to accommodate competing priorities.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The chance to meet new people daily, wear your favorite clothing on a everyday basis, and the ability to exceed in your daily goals. Also, you are more than likely to get recognition for exceeding, and the room for growth is there.

    Cons

Walking around for nearly 8 to 9 hours a day. Being keened on for not making your goals, being placed in a section within the store that you are more than likely going to hate such as a boy being placed in the female section or vise versus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
