Pros
-meet some pretty great people
-fellow employees are usually fun and good natured
-discount is decent (50% off first two weeks of new merch, 40% off most days, 30% off clearance)
Cons
-terrible management
-extreme lack of respect from select managers (transphobic and homophobic statements made)
-CREDIT CARDS = evil
-no raise or offer of review after 1.5 years of working there
-"encouraged" to wear "properly gendered" clothing
Advice to Senior Management
Be more open minded and less judgmental and focus more on selling merchandise successfully rather than gossiping about customers or being lazy.
Pros
40% discount all the time
50% discount when there is a new floor set
Occasional $10 jean specials
Scratch off ticket incentives with free merchandise (I won free jeans)
Basically, if you already like their clothes and shop there a lot, it would be worth working there for the discount.
Managers are really friendly as are other employees
Cons
Not many hours, if you are not cashier trained you will be left off the schedule completely when it is slow until you are trained, which you have no control over.
Low hourly wage, do not expect much more than minimum wage.
Schedules often to not come out on time and it makes it difficult to plan your week ahead when it's Friday night and you still don't know if you have to work on Sunday.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep less people on payroll, so the people you do have can have more hours. It is ridiculous people will be left off the schedule completely for weeks in a row because they are not cashier trained, so offer the training sooner so your employees do not get discouraged.
Pros
good discount
great job for sales associates
software systems to help you do your job
Cons
-poor wages for sales associates, key holders and assistant managers
-poor training... thrown on the floor to sell instead of learning policy and procedures
-never trained on product knowledge, WHO American Eagle is and their history, the "4 B's"
-Only given bad feedback, never told when I'm doing a good job
-asked Dm for help because I would lose a manager each month because of their training and DM ignored me.
-I wasnt required to work more than 40 hours but was told I look like a bad manager when I dont.
-couldnt take lunch breaks and wasnt given lieu time for not being able to take breaks.
