I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fun atmosphere. Good pay relative to cost of living.

    Cons

Work can be extremely stressful at times and employees tend to be over worked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much micro management. Leadership team doesn't understand the work load implications of some of the last minute decisions that they make.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Casual office environment, no dress code, lots of time off, fun activities from time to time.

    Cons

Very, very political. They often times hire kids straight out of school who don't know much about the business instead of promoting from within. If you aren't one of the "popular kids," good luck getting the recognition you deserve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to work ethic rather than looks and popularity - this is not high school.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great discount on clothes, and very cool to be at the company's corporate headquarters.

    Cons

For what you do on a day-to-day basis you do not get paid enough and most of your work basically goes unappreciated. You may be working at the corporate offices, but you will not be treated that way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This position needs to be reevaluated and upper management needs to understand that this is an important part of the stores development.

    Pros

Motivated, energetic, young professionals are the norm here. Great culture to work in. Compensation is good as well, especially in a low cost city like Pittsburgh

    good mentor program
    work life balance healthy
    company discounts are good

half days on Fridays in the Summer

    Cons

    Struggling company
    disjointed management

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The work environment is not generally horrible
    Making friends and business connections
    Summer Fridays, random perks, 401K

    Cons

Complete lack of communication and direction among teams
The design and production office is in Manhattan. The merchandising office is not. That's where the private jet comes in.
Time wasting and environment ruining reports and files that receive zero attention
Those who work hard do just that. Those who join the old boys club move up to do less.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you're looking for a young and casual corporate environment where you can gain some experience, this is your place.

    Cons

The toxic culture, lack of work-life balance, nepotism, favoritism, and poor leadership seems to outweigh any good qualities of working here. Because it's hard to advance in certain departments, its normal for individuals to throw each other under the bus in an effort to look better in front of management. It's not uncommon for individuals to be put on Performance Improvement Plans. A lot of people who do great work go unnoticed while the typical repeat offenders with lack of leadership and contribution are protected and even promoted. Entry-level positions work 70+ hours per week while team leaders are out the door every day at 4:30pm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the people who don't do anything and reward the people who do.
