    Pros

With the right managers, you can absorb the vast knowledge of wonderful customer service and sales skills that lead to an interpersonal relationship with customers. They pay fabulously and the discounts are unbelievable.

    Cons

In my 5 year experience with the company I have had no opposing views toward the company.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Atmosphere is high energy and co-workers are usually really great. Training is overwhelming at first but easy after a day or two.

    Cons

They don't do anything about poor management and hours can be too much or too little depending on the staff. Underpaid for the amount of work required.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace management with poor leadership skills.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I love the discount, although it's a little too restrictive. Getting to work with some fun people and good clothes

    Cons

get ready to teach yourself. I haven't had a raise since I was hired. also while the discount is good, you can get a better one just about anywhere else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

communication is key. If you don't have some way to communicate through all levels of positions, you're failing somewhere. Consistency is something you can work on.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Employee Discounts
    - Great coworkers and managers
    - Everyone helps one another
    - Fast paced environment that allows you to learn a lot of different skills.

    Cons

    - Not many hours (they don't really give a lot of hours)
    - Call-ins are good and bad. They are good because it gives you the opportunity to get some hours and they are bad because you'll only get those if they need you to go in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

New employees should be teamed with other employees that have experience and can help them through their first month working at the store.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters

    Pros

The store I was at was in the mall, so it was easy to go to the food court for lunch. Most of my same level co workers were alright.

    Cons

Terrible managers. They really could care less about you unless you've been there for years.

Also, call in hours. These are the worst. If you have work from 10 am - 7 pm, but call in at 9am, it basically means you have to wake up at 7:30, and be ready to be there by 8:55, even if they don't use your call in. There is no extra pay if they do use it, still the standard minimum wage. Makes it very hard to plan personal affairs when you don't even know your work schedule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop doing call in hours and hire managers that actually care about their employees.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters

    Pros

    Amazing discount
Certain Supervisor will place you where youre most comfortable
    fun in store contest

    Cons

Outdated ways of scheduling (pick up in person, hard to swap shifts)
Too much focus on loyalty (hours cut due to not getting CC'S and reward cards)
Training is not consistent (I never got trained for anything, yet others received thorough training)
No communication among supervisors, leading to mis communication on the floor
more pay as we are the most hard working employees in retail
Favoritetism in the store (have one employee do all the work while another sits around and do nothing but chat to the manager about cats and dogs)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    see that cons above
