The discount was nice to have. My coworkers were really supportive in everything we did. I learned a lot about working in retail from them.

    Pros

The 40% discount was a huge bonus to the job.

    Cons

Rude managers that talked badly about other employees, training was done by other associates, 6 months until you can work the register, working shifts like 9pm-5am doing transitions

    Pros

Strong Management, with very strict policies regarding performance, spurring to be your best. Great environment, upbeat and lively and with a great sense of camaraderie.

    Cons

Really poor shift planning system. No online interface, you have to go in to pick up your schedules, and for call-in's you have to call them an hour before to find out whether you have work, thereby making it really hard to plan.

The people I worked with were great. Amazing discount. Helped me open up and feel more comfortable talking to customers.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations. Horrible pay, worked there two years and only got a $.15 raise. All about loyalty. Doesn't really care about employees

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees!!

    Pros

They put a lot of effort into training new hires in customer service. The training was consistently reinforced with short exercises before shifts. I felt that the lessons I learned really translated to later jobs.

    Cons

It's retail... As a smaller store, we didn't receive a lot of product that was featured in the promo materials. Customers would get mad that they couldn't find what they wanted

    Advice to Management

I thought the work culture was great. Even as a younger team member, I felt that all of the employees communicated well and we were able to accomplish all tasks.

    Pros

American eagle was great because they believe in developing their associates. I started as a sales associate, was relocated to Pittsburgh for an their merchandising internship and was hired full-time into their MP&A program. They provide you with classroom experience as well as hands on. Completing their program holds weight.

    Cons

Work-life and social life were combined. Pittsburgh is fairly small. Chance are you're going to the gym, grocery store and same nail salon as your managers and co-workers. Amazing place to work
