    Pros

If you don't want to actually work, it's easy to hide in the cracks since there's not much room to accomplish work with the chaos among the different departments

    Cons

poor organization; poor infrastructure; complete lack of control over auxiliary groups

    Advice to Management

Figure out who is in charge of overseeing work between departments and empower those people to do that. Now there's no oversight or controls, so it's nearly impossible to get work done.

    Pros

The team was very great and easy to get along with. The VPs and Directors were very "open door" and accomodating

    Cons

There seemed to be a lack of direction and training. There were strict deadlines without much information on how to achieve those deadlines. Some people were under qualified as well.

    Advice to Management

Give more direction as the company is headed into its own entity. More experienced employees would help move projects along faster.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Lunch and learns were fun. Good training approach and opportunities for fam trips and so on

    Cons

No time to enjoy benefits. Work life balance is difficult with their mandatory overtime requirements. High turn around

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your employees needs and you will have a lower turn around rate

    Pros

Highly respected global brand, Above average salaries. Good benefits, Many longterm employees who have spent their entire career in this one company.

    Cons

Heavily silo'd. Due to the significant number of employees that have worked their entire career at one company, perspectives are somewhat skewed. Not open to outside ideas. Work/Life balance depends on department. Leaders give only lip service to changing culture. Many legacy systems that are difficult to navigate.

    Advice to Management

    Look beyond your own walls

    Pros

Amex Global Business Travel offers a great work life balance, allowing employees in certain positions to work from a virtual office. The salaries are extremely competitive and adjusted across the region based on the cost of living.

    Cons

As with many companies, there are corporate challenges at GBT. Cutting critical resources, and quite often there is a lack of true understanding what is needed at the 'worker bee' level from a senior standpoint and processes or initiatives put in place do not align with what is really needed.

    Advice to Management

Request more input from lower down the totem pole for realistic perspective on business needs, not just from a balance sheet perspective.

    Pros

Amex has been aggressively trying to re-invent itself with EGG, the jury is still out as many payment products take years to come to fruition, but working there is genuinely very enjoyable. The work life balance is great and the leadership is top notch.

Neal Sample, the new head of EGG, has a highly accredited background and is know behind the doors as a genius. The division is in good hands.

Amex has incredibly strong internal recruiting. The culture at Amex is that once you're in, people tend to move around Amex after 2-3 years. It's great because it gives an opening for employees looking for intellectual stimulus to explore new groups and positions.

Compensation is average to moderate - but work life balance is great.

    Cons

As a division exploring new products, there will always be projects that just don't work out. Fortunately, EGG has had its fair share of projects that simply didn't work out. However, I strongly believe that high performing employees will always have a role at the company. The group is quick to weed out the non-performers, which is good for the group as a whole.

Unfortunately salary growth at the company can be bogged down by bureaucracy. As with many companies, it's easier to get high salaries here from external recruiting.

    Advice to Management

    Believe in the Neal Sample.
