    Pros

Amex take care of their own, and a very team driven. You're are made to feel part of something working there. Good basic salary and clearly defined working hours

    Cons

Every single aspect of the role had to be checked with multiple stakeholders so it would take months to get simple things approved. Worst commission/bonus structure I have come across in 6 years in the business. The middle management team are completely unrealistic about their market position, competition and forecasts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked on the foreign exchange desk...when selling niche services employ candidates who have experience in that field....dont just hire telesale people who have not interest in delivering quality customer service.

Former Employee - Marketing Director in London, England (UK)

    Pros

I had a number of great roles when I worked there - it's a well-repsected brand to have on your CV and I learnt a lot.

    Cons

In recent years, the number of restructures have been significant, and it can be difficult to get things done across functional teams. Performance expectations are high but this is often not reflected in compensation or support.

Current Employee - Project Manager  in  Brighton, England (UK)
Current Employee - Project Manager in Brighton, England (UK)

    Pros

Able to develop different skills and interests overall. Mobility is encouraged. Flexi time and working from home is allowed when in a project based role (Operations for instance is very controlled). Big focus on Compliance everywhere. The company is sympathetic to personal situations. Team work is usually the norm.

    Cons

Lack of resources to attend professional training. Negotiating a pay rise internally from jobs to jobs is a pain, mostly externals and graduates have the edge here. A lot of politics slowing down the work for nothing but their egos. There is often a restructuration happening somewhere but that is the norm in a Blue chip.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review and stream line the appraisal process, making us document tons of examples for a small percentage increase if lucky doesn't make any sense ans is counter productive to a heavy workload.
