    Pros

    Good benefits package compared to many Idaho schools. Small faculties that are friendly and supportive. Strong teacher association.

    Cons

    The superintendent is out of touch with what is going on in the schools and does not like to communicate with teachers. The principal at the high school is new and is destroying the school. About half the teachers have left over the past two years that he has worked there. Most of the remaining teachers are looking for other positions or holding on for retirement. The superintendent is in a state of denial about this disastrous situation and the school board does not seem to care.

    Advice to Management

    Replace the high school principle before the next school year. Start trusting the faculty and listen to their suggestions. Work on reducing the toxic relationship between administrators and the faculty; it is hurting the students education and costing the district good teachers.

    I have been working at American Falls School District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great schools that offer many opportunities for students. High school has gone through a serious transition but now has a student centered staff. Great teachers and principals.

    Cons

    Superintendent supports staff and is a nice person but has no leadership abilities.

    Advice to Management

    The board needs to restructure the pay scale so that their are fewer steps to the top. Board should insist that the superintendent retire.
