Pros
Fairly good pay and benefits.
Cons
Need to be able to sell, even when it's not in the customer's best interest. They are only focused on loan and insurance production, and not in any other aspect of the job. The best employees were the ones that kept the branch running, not the ones that tried to sneak an endless stream of bad loans past the underwriters (and there are a lot of them -- they often end up getting promoted!)
Advice to Senior Management
Stay open minded to the possibility that a branch needs more than just loans, it needs GOOD loans. A bunch of bad loans just adds the delinquency, and diminishes the employees ability to generate more GOOD loans.
Pros
great benefits, great resume builder
Cons
upper management thinks their god and you should always be doing better than you are
Advice to Senior Management
get off your high horse. your not that great.
Pros
This company works hard to allow employees to balance work/personal life. Employees are encouraged to volunteer within their community. Compensation is unparalleled.
Cons
Lack of communication within the organization between upper management and front line employees. Due to economy, career growth is limited currently. Office was sometimes conducted like a stereotypical hierarchy, which can be discouraging to lower level employees at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Work harder to improve employee experience. Traditional business hierarchies have shown to be unsuccessful over time. Continue awesome training programs for new employees. Work on employee retention.
Pros
The pay and benifts was the only thing it had going for it.
Cons
The fairness and management was horrible.....
Advice to Senior Management
Be more honest and open with your employees.
Pros
Customer interaction and ability to build relationships with them, local service and personal interaction with your clientele daily and monthly
Cons
Advancement opportunities, compensation vs what is required of you out of sync, unrealistic goals compared to products to meet them
Advice to Senior Management
understand that there is only so much one can do with limited products that are not competitive and adjust goals accordingly
Pros
Good management training experience, especially for employees straight out of college
Very structured
Cons
Good incentives when I first started work, but due to the economic downturn, bonuses or any rewards were eliminated.
Extra stress and demands from upper management increased
Advice to Senior Management
Increase in turnover because upper management does not bother to listen to their employees
Pros
ok salary. you can just show up and get paid if thats what you want
Cons
no room for advancement. you can just show up and get paid if thats what you want
Advice to Senior Management
hire better middle managers
Pros
Benefits, good starting pay right out of college, good amount of paid vacation/discretionary time. Also good people to work with for the most part and you can learn the business pretty quick.
Cons
Upper management seems to make it difficult to get most loans approved, resulting in managers making crappy loans to meet the numbers because they need to hit their loan quotas.
Advice to Senior Management
Give managers more room to make loans without approval from people not associated with the direct office. Also be more upfront with employees about current situations around the company.
Pros
Simply put, the most important variable in working for AGF is what branch you are placed in. If your branch manager is great your work experience will likely be great also. Of course, the opposite is also true.
Cons
ever changing loan underwriting and field calling
Advice to Senior Management
n/a
Pros
Normal schedule and being paid weekly.
Cons
Incompetent upper management and promotions are based on favoritism.
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach and be consistent. Upper management are just people that have worked there forever but are not necessarily competent or formally educated.
