I have been working at American Golf full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There's growth opportunity within the company and they are striving to meet the needs of their Members as well as top management is open to doing things better.

    Cons

Silo departments and slow process to have them work collectively with each other. Corporate office staff is great to work with but the sense of urgency but from a property level, needs to be more passionate and with a stronger work ethic/integrity.

    Advice to Management

Ask for more employee feedback - employee survey and corporate to speak with individual managers and employees to get receive the true behind the scene management at property level.

I have been working at American Golf part-time

    Pros

It's an easy job and doesn't require much brainpower. There is a laid back atmosphere and could be worse overall.

    Cons

It's your basic minimum wage job. It isn't special or fun, but it allows you to gain some experience.

    Advice to Management

Update the materials used. At our course, we're using extremely dated carts and it's annoying having to apologize to new customers when they aren't impressed at the end of their round.

I worked at American Golf full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good structure, knowledgeable and experienced people at the top.

    Cons

People at the top (Exec level) were knowledgeable and experienced, but made every effort to squeeze every last dollar out of each facility, with no regard for staff.

    Advice to Management

Understand that you are managing people. Never forget that.

The company needs to do more to keep its best GMs.

I worked at American Golf part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This company location accommodated with my schedule by providing short and flexible hours. If i'm sick, calling out was never a hassle. Good tips on the weekends. Understanding and great coworkers.

    Cons

No structure. Have had issues with coworkers in the past who took advantage of the loose management and they completely did whatever they pleased and left the kitchen and dining room a mess. Barely any consequences (may seem like a pro but is definitely not.) Something was always broken or just plain old.

    Advice to Management

Figure out how to make rules and stick with them. Stop having such a hands-off way of managing and try helping us make Casta easier to work with even if that means putting in a little discipline. Also try asking us what we want because this place needs structure, organization and a lot of work. This is a huge corporation, spend a little money renovating this location to make it easier to work in. Broken toasters, ovens, heat lamps, AC and old glasses are not a good look for AGC.

    Pros

Large company with a lot of opportunity for growth and advancement. Based out of CA but with locations on both coasts.

    Cons

American Golf is undergoing a very big management transition. The future stability of the corporate office is questionable. AGC is in the process of working through these changes.

I worked at American Golf part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The course I worked at was fairly laid back, with really awesome co-workers and great clients. Nice course and we got to play for very cheap and sometimes even for free.

    Cons

Low pay for the amount of work

    Advice to Management

    Update Equipment more often

I have been working at American Golf full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Golf Benefits and Discounts. My course has a great staff, we work together well.

    Cons

Have not had a raise in more than a decade. It was great money to be made at the time but, cost of living has gone up, Workload has doubled but not a single raise.

    Advice to Management

Stop taking advantage of employees. Pay a living wage to dedicated staff who have been there to step up and take care of your business when others have long since wised up and moved on. I've had my work load double yet no raise in more than a decade.
