I have been working at American Greetings full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat (and Knowledgeable) Staff, Can wear Jeans, Open Source Code & Collaboration, Great Benefits, Starbucks, Break room (includes games & free soda), Need I say More?

ConsLack of Remote Working (not big on work from home), besides that...there are no downsides to this incredible company from the view I have of it!

Advice to Senior ManagementNone! I'd love to see some more workspace flexibillity, but that is it! Everything else about this company is far beyond amazing.

fantastic company to work for.

Web Producer (Current Employee)
Cleveland, OH

I have been working at American Greetings

ProsThis is a transparent company, with a positive and engaged attitude towards it's employees. I have found all of coworkers across departments to be excellent people to work with, and the teamwork and professionalism to be likewise present. This is also a highly creative and engaged group of people to work with. Individualism and creativity is encouraged. Diversity is encouraged: I see colleagues who are not afraid to hide their sexual orientation (gay), and are not penalized in their careers. I experience a strong multicultural corporate environment, in which differences are welcomed as a strength for the company. This is a company where you can create your job description by reaching towards your aspirations, interests, and strengths, and where you can find an effective work/life balance. I love it here.

Consits a tough company to get into. I worked there for nearly a year as a contractor, before getting brought on board as a full time employee. Others I have talked to have up to spent several years as contractors, before getting hired in house. On the other hand, the wait is worth it.

Advice to Senior Managementgood job. keep it up.

PTO Warehouse Inventory Hyster Driver

PTO-Power Truck Op (Former Employee)
Afton, TN

I worked at American Greetings full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGreat employees to work with. Laid back environment. People work as a team without haveing management shoving teamwork down your throat. It isn't required to work as a team but we did anyways.

ConsUnion Plant so the people who have been there for years don't do anything. The union allows employees that don't pull their weight to stay on without consequences. This is killing the business.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake time to properly train employees. Find a way to get rid of the employees that have been there for years that don't do anything. I understand if they are still doing the job but when they expect a newer employee to do their job as well as their own you are paying two people when you should be paying one. This is a major problem and needs to be corrected.
