    Pros

Wonderful people with a tremendous depth of knowledge about and passion for the rail industry. Industry is booming right now and company growth is guaranteed for the next couple of years. You are allowed a great deal of autonomy, which is very nice.

    Cons

Pay grade is slow to keep up with competitors and as a result, talent is leaving at an alarming rate. No "sick day" policy and small amounts of vacation. The majority of the company is nearing retirement age, and at times, policies can reflect an older point of view. (Not a progressive workplace)

  2. Inconsistency amongst management. High turnover at the corporate office in past year.

    Pros

Great location in the heart of St. Charles. Most people are very friendly and senior staff are mostly helpful. Managers allow time off for personal needs

    Cons

In the past few years the company has changed drastically. The company is basically being run by short-sided financiers and by the board of directors. No thoughts as to the future of the company-- constantly neglecting good customers and ruining long-standing relationships. They are losing all talented workers to competitors because they are too slow to act, and too cheap to provide standard salaries & benefits packages. The highest level managers are disinterested in company objectives and unwilling to make any changes.

    Advice to Management

Define company objectives and put a plan of action into place. Big changes are needed soon.

    Pros

    They do pay on time.

    Cons

Exceeding number of employees with 20+ years there.
Abhorrence of anything new or creative.
Company populated by empire builders doing everything they can to perpetuate the status quo.

    Advice to Management

Bring in a new management team to clean house.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Just the fellow workers who struggle by my side to tolerate this place!!! Because the benefits dont cut it at all.

    Cons

Lack of training, Buddy system, Nepatism, Managment is out of touch with up to date methods of dealing with people, and Generation Y will not tolerate this. Hazzards everywhere, Poor Engineering Dept. Lots of Back Stabbing, Hire too many Convicts.........

    Advice to Management

Get involved, Talk to the people not the managers because they will blow smoke up your a**, enforce the ethics laws, because the workers are the only ones being held accountable not anyone else in Managment. Stop the nepatism.

    Pros

Money is okay. Ample time off and longevity if you're well liked.
Older employee's are great to work with, very helpful and knowledgeable. The company and building are very clean and well taken care of. ARI is really good about creating numerous activites for their employees.

    Cons

Unprofessonal Relationships and big Egos . "Leads" have a less then tactful approach to work and managing co-workers.

    Advice to Management

    Talk to your whole department.
Not just the few people in you're circle of trust, they are'nt always the most trustworthy.

    Cons

    Insurance is no good here

    Advice to Management

Get bebefits where the employees are not out so much money if they could find a way to cut the out of pocket expense by 65% would be 3 times better
