    Pros

The pros were the perks and benefits. It helped me build my career in manufacturing and science. Great for someone to enter into the science and manufacturing field.

    Cons

The hours weren't the best and things were ever changing at short notice. Also, the pay could be better.

    Advice to Management

Don't micromanage. Be fair to all employees and build healthy relationships with those under you. Congratulate them, give encouraging words more than critical ones.

    Pros

-Being a part of an enormous humanitarian effort -Job site location -Many job opportunities are available to those willing to relocate -You can work and volunteer at the same location

    Cons

-Continual Re-Engineering leads to regular juggling of middle management and fosters an unstable hierarchy -Embarrassing base pay and raises, despite aggressive cost-saving measures taken, all-the-while supporting huge salaries for senior management ($300-400K, as reported on the 1099)

    Advice to Management

Remember the very mission that you harp to those actually getting the work done in order to rationalize the unacceptable compensation. If the Collections and Manufacturing staff (the backbone of the organization) are paid so little, that pattern must exist company-wide.

  5. Used to be a great company to work for

I have been working at American Red Cross (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Coworkers, coworkers, coworkers, coworkers, coworkers

    Cons

Management has run the company in the ground. Management keeps taking away benefits and jobs and adding more work to hourly people who are left, all the while giving themselves more benefits and "pats on the back"! Experienced employees are leaving due to this and Red Cross is hiring all unexperienced people and not providing adequate training. Stress levels are at the highest ever.

    Advice to Management

Hourly employees are trimmed back more than they should be. Actually start trimming the workforce from the top and not just recreate new positions for senior management whenever it is announced the senior positions are being eliminated. Take the information and suggestions given by the employees on all of the expensive surveys the Red Cross pays for and actually put them to work.

    Pros

You are able to find live long friendships with your peers and coworkers.

    Cons

Despite you work long days / 12 hours + , it seems like you are always on-call late nights and weekends.

    Advice to Management

Treat your workforce decent or you will have a 70 % turnover rate which is the reason I left.

    Pros

Competitive pay vs other phlebotomy jobs in the state, and great Co workers in the field.

    Cons

Consistently changing everything, usually for the worse. Local management is okay and trying their best with the tools they have. Turnover rate is astronomically high, nearly %80 and morale is decreasing rapidly as employees feel they are expendable.

    Advice to Management

Please match positions with great related experience for the job and not just friends in the company to get the job done better. Also have incentives for employees staying longer as morale is terrible and the cost of hiring with such a high turnover rate is much more than rewarding hard work.

    Cons

Extremely long hours. The pay is low compared to the hours/all of the driving you have to do everyday.

    Advice to Management

Scheduling could be a lot better. The pay should be better. The work could be better organized.
