    Advice to Management

Appreciation is free and goes a long way, even when wages cannot rise.

    Pros

I learned more during this internship than I have throughout college. Your mentors push you but also understand you are coming in with minimal knowledge. Employees listen to what you have to say and will take any input you have. I was treated as a full time employee, sat in on all meetings, went to lunches, and had strict deadlines. The best work experience I have ever had.

    Cons

There are some managers that are close to useless. Certain individuals seem to hurt the company more than can help it.

    Pros

Lots of autonomy within the department. You are given a lot of responsibility and many of the skills learned on the job are transferable later in you career.

    Cons

Many of the positions are non paid or internships and a lot of great talent is forced to move on because so.

    Advice to Management

Continue to provide an opportunity for interns to grow and contribute. Be open to new ideas and ways to improve outreach and recruitment.

  8. Fear driven tactics used, extremely unprofessional organization!

    Pros

The cause, saving life's. Overtime rate is good.

    Cons

Adulterious behavior amongst all level of staff! That's the only way to get promoted or a decent raise. No care or concern for staff safety, vehicles are not maintained and are filthy. If you do not participate in clique-ish type behaviors, you are punished, talked about and sabotaged. Fear is used as a tactic to motivate. Professional-ism does not exsist here. Depends on what supervisor you work with for the day determines if you get a break.. Was told this was acceptable. Was told would have to work some Saturdays. Found myself working on a regular basis a 6 day work week.

    Pros

    Great people, benefits and opportunities.

    Cons

Quite competitive to get a job.

    Advice to Management

A lot of work is expected, overtime sometimes, and hard to not want to when you are so passionate about the cause.

    Pros

Strongly regulated and self effacing. This is an organization with a long standing humanitarian mission

    Cons

Huge bureaucracy. Getting any new ideas through to implementation is an ordeal. Simple changes can take up to two years to implement

    Advice to Management

Value your employees. They really put in a very strong effort because they value the humanitarian mission of the organization. Make careful and logical decisions on your implementations. It appears that they are often ill thought through and at great expense simply because its someones pet project and marketed in a very biased fashion

    Pros

Despite being inexperienced and entry-level, the staff gave me a lot of opportunities to take ownership of projects. The office culture was also great and very relaxing despite the workload.

    Cons

The organization restructured itself a lot and that affected job stability.

    Advice to Management

Should value the employees a bit more instead of the organization's finances.
