Decent Company but a handful of people with their own agenda

I worked at American Science and Engineering

    Pros

Great product. The new DEO has his work cut out for him weeding through the bad eggs left from the old regime.

    Cons

No loyalty. There are a few people there are only in it for themselves.

    Internship

I have been working at American Science and Engineering as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Best internship I've ever had. The engineers there do an array of work and it's always exciting. They made sure I was always learning and always had exciting projects for me to work on. They seemed to embrace the fact that they are part of your education and want to provide you with a positive learning experience.

    Cons

It got slow at one point, but soon enough there was plenty of exciting work for me to do.

I worked at American Science and Engineering full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good Benefits, nice people (for the most part)

    Cons

Management changes their mind on an hourly basis. A program can be super high priority one minute (as you stay late and work long hours to meet deadline) and the next minute it is not a priority anymore. This is a constant. Some of the long timers are threatened by new people coming in. A lot of back stabbing and general dysfunction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You won't listen anyway so why bother.

During my 1st 4 years year it was dynamic and the last 2 years were miserable

    Pros

AS&E was a market leader and in 2010 it was flying and it was fun. Pay is good.

    Cons

Mgmt was reluctant to make any key decisions over the last few years and continues to punt on key critical decisions. No real leaders or expertise that one can count on just disparate opinions, unrealistic views and understanding of the shrinking marketplace. I've never observed such low employee morale.
