    Cons

While in training after the second day the management will explain how much you will make per hour while on training you be very surprise only $9.00 per hour and $200 bonus when customer past credit. Can you live with minimum wage, and force to work 7 days a week??? The process to get hire will take 3 months they claim the background takes long time jajajajaja

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management sucks, human resource never answer the phone, pay roll department never pick up the phone you can live messages and messages for months will never call you back they do no care about you not only that the management of the San Diego office is always under the influence of drugs, he talks like older person dress like a homeless and smell like addict.

    Pros

While in training you instantly feel the strong sense of belonging. Not just to a great company, but an award winning company as well. The pay structure is unlimited. Thanks to the team players you can count on advancing easily.

    Cons

Applying for a job in a very competitive industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With no experience I was hired. Management saw something that I didn't. I absorbed what training was offered and took all of the advice and direction and quickly moved up in the company. Great job management.

I worked at American Solar Direct full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed the team I worked with. Very personable and inclusive group, working toward a common goal. My team leader was a great motivator for cold sales calls.

    Cons

We worked in an area about 2.5 hour drive from home. The canvassing days were incredibly long, starting at 7:30 and getting home by 10 pm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being out in the field is expensive. Supplying a base pay, even if minimal, would keep people working longer. I felt that the amount of travel required by our team and the commission only pay discourages your employees more than anything else.

I worked at American Solar Direct full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Decent on-board bonuses
    Really good training
Good commissions IF your deals go through
    Lots of bonuses

    Cons

Low proceeding Rate for signed deals, usually because people are scared of NRG lease.
    Issues with operations
little options for customer, we push the Lease and only offer one kind of panel
You have to completely depend on yourself for leads.
You have to knock doors, this is pretty much your only way of getting leads

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the company more leads then just door knocking, run events, run advertisements, or something institute a base plus commission or draw. Have dedicated canvassing teams.

I have been working at American Solar Direct full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

What a GREAT company to work for & I truly believe that this is an opportunity of a lifetime. What an awesome way to make a living, helping people go solar & helping other people fulfill their dreams.

I have been with ASD since Jan 2012. One of the things that I love about AMERICAN SOLAR DIRECT, is that we are always improving- for the employee or the client.

It is a culture unlike any other, positive, encouraging, energetic, inspiring & they pay better than any other solar co.

I have been recruited 4 times during my employment with AMERICAN SOLAR DIRECT & I always tell them the same thing.
" I am loyal to them because they are loyal to me".

This is my first sales position When I wasn't sure if this was the job for me, they trained, encouraged & always support me.

We have a GREAT team throughout the organization.

As our CEO says "we are building something great together"

    Cons

Can't think of any..we make our destiny!!

I have been working at American Solar Direct full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Paid hourly training helpful for first time sales people. Good team work and you make friends with co workers fast. They hire locally.

    Cons

After training you work full time on commission only and you make nothing! They make you work 6 days a week in the hot Sun and make impossible quotas so you will get put to part time (still no hourly). You can work as hard as you can but its a 1 and 50 chance your gonna have a ok paycheck if one at all if you do make commission its just right above minimum wage so not very motivating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give a decent pay at least minimum wage with commission so employees are not stranded with no money if they have a bad month or a bad area. All of management needs to learn how to communicate with it's employees.

I worked at American Solar Direct full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Working from 1-8pm. There are some good things to learn from others how to sale.

    Cons

Working outside most of the time, bad time to work is 1-4 pm, under the a lot of heat during Summer time, easily to get skin damage. The job has no health benefit, no job security, no freedom, must knock resident's door at least 100-150 doors a day. Always threaten from management to let go if not produce any appointments or leads.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no advice for management, they know what they doing.
