Former Employee – worked at American Specialty Health full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Fantastic environment. Fairly interesting projects. Decent management. Good technology. Great people.
Cons – Can be a little boring at times. Does cost cutting when economy is bad, but didn't undo cost cutting when economy was better.

Current Employee – been working at American Specialty Health full-time for less than a year
Pros – The company is very health conscious, allows for ample time off with holidays and PTO, offers financial incentives to stay in shape, and promotes work/life balance at all times.
Cons – Can't think of any at the moment.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you're doing--it's the companies that take care of their employees that take care of their communities.

Current Employee – been working at American Specialty Health full-time
Pros – Opportunity for advancement for those who are qualified and put the time and effort in. Holiday schedule is solid and adaptability of the company make it a constantly evolving environment and work cycle, which keeps the work interesting.
Cons – There are few boundaries or limits to the amount of work that may be asked of you. If you thrive in that type of environment, you'll do well; if not you'll go down fast. The ability to prioritize and be efficient are not only desirable but needed to get by in an environment that is constantly changing.
Advice to Senior Management – Sometimes the simplest solution is investing in system enhancement or development to make everyday job life easier. Throwing more people at a broken system is not always the answer. This organization is very siloed and there is an incredible amount of redundancy in processes but a lack of accountability when problems arise.
We do well as a company recognizing new enhancements and areas of improvement, but we are often slow to enact change or don't contribute the resources to it to see it fully through.

Former Employee – worked at American Specialty Health full-time for less than a year
Pros – Overall a great place to work with great benefits and perks.
Cons – Working at American Specialty Health as a Customer Service Rep is truly a day-to-day opportunity. Thought the benefits are great, getting canned is just a easy. Their standards have loop-holes since they are dictated by clients, hence one has to be their toes at all times. Upward mobility is reserved for those who went to high school with the management.

Current Employee – been working at American Specialty Health full-time for more than a year
Pros – "luxury" building that has waterfall showcased in the middle of three buildings.
Cons – Compensation and benefits. every year benefits get lesser and lesser. If you only have a high school diploma, you will not succeed in here if you do not know someone from up high. Management is by the book all the way. No sick leave; it is combined with your regular PTO. A lot of employees are micromanaged.

Current Employee – been working at American Specialty Health full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Great co-workers who support each other, since the supervisors seem to always be unavailable.
Cons – Not very much chance for advancement, and for the amount of money they pay you, you deal with a lot
Advice to Senior Management – You continually raise standards to get rid of the people who are there for a number of years, and hire people who aren't as experienced. Therefore, the customer service quality suffers, and you burn out your employees. How about offering adequate compensation for those who have been there for a number of years?

Pros – American Specialty Health is the epitome of a company that "practices what it preaches." ASH is a health and wellness company and it's not limited to the products we sell to our clients, but it's apparent in our corporate culture as well. It's so refreshing to be excited about going to work every day because of the people I work with and having a passion for the work we do.
ASH offers great benefits to its employees including tuition reimbursement, reimbursement for participating in active events including races, discounted movie tickets, access to an onsite fitness center, optional onsite training classes for programs such as Excel, and these are just a few of the perks we have. We have a casual dress code to help support and encourage our healthy lifestyles. But despite this relaxed environment, there is a strong sense of professionalism and respect amongst the staff.
Cons – The only thing I would say is that the hiring process takes a while, but that is understandable because they do well to screen those who they think would fit in with our corporate culture.
Advice to Senior Management – I think management does an excellent job of leading by example. I also think that management is friendly and approachable. Our management team encourages us to grow within the company and to grow as individuals.

Pros – If you are looking for a place were you can put in 40 hours a week and walk away, ASH is a good place to be.The dress code is pretty casual, which is good I guess.
Cons – You can't count on raises, during my time at ASH, they had a salary freeze one year followed by raises limited to a 3% department average (although you could still get a decent raise through promotion). The company also spends a lot of time talking about how great it is, including quarterly company wide meetings that are a waist of time. That gets old fast. There are some decent folks at ASH, but there is plenty of incompetence to deal with as well.
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on improving current products and offerings, less on rushing out whatever some client asked for to get one sale.

Pros – Good place to get corporate experience without a lot of pressure. The paid holidays are exceptional. It is a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Cons – The location is OK if you like to sit in traffic. Pay scale is not very good. Disconnect between departments.
Advice to Senior Management – Not the best idea to freeze wages then tell employees how well the company is doing a month later. Quarterly awards are a huge waste of time.
