I have been working at American Standard full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You get 3 weeks vacation from the day you are hired.

    Cons

Management changes all polices and procedures to benefit certain employees. Too much favoritism and sideline personal relations with their insubordinates. Rules are bent for certain employees causing serious rifts within the department. Management also has no idea what certain people are actually doing while on the clock! They need to get up off their chairs and leave their offices once in awhile and check out what their employees are actually getting paid to do!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be consistent! Get rid of the employees who are not there to perform their duties to the best of their abilities. Get rid of the employees who spend more time taking care of their personal business on the clock than anything else. Train everyone consistently. And once an employee quits or gives their notice, do nit make them a special case when they decide to return or stay. Do not let those people dictate their role in the department. They go back to the bottom of the pole and start all over and other employees do not shuffled or have their responsibilities changed to please the person who quit and wants to return because they are not happy with the "Amazing" job they left the company for.

    I worked at American Standard

    Pros

Great place to work. Great emplolyees to work with. Smart and motivated leadership team. Positive corporate culture, hard working employees. Positioned for success once market adjusts

    Cons

Company has not yet employed the work life balance across all departments but hours are manageable. The ability to work from home 1 day a week would be greatly appreciated across all departments (not just a select few), however, Management has employee safety at top of the list especially during bad weather. Employees would love jean Fridays.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lead by example. Dress for success - not for attention. Proactively pay emloyees for performance before they look outside the organization.

I have been working at American Standard

    Pros

Good products, good people to work with

Seem to be succeeding in a down market and doing better than expected

    Cons

    Workload is excessive

    Far too many meetings

Feedback is about 80% negative and more often than not is given in a public setting

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is doing well and this should be celebrated more openly and frequently

More frequent communication with employees will help

    I worked at American Standard

    Pros

Good benefits for employees, health insurance, post graduate scolarship support.

    Cons

Poor opportunities of professional development if you don't have the connections.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encouragement should be developed for current employees, hiring processes not well structured , opportunities should be equal to any person that fits the position (instead of certain inside recommendations)

    Pros

This is an iconic multi-national company. Working at American Standard is a prestige. It gives you the edge to be above the rest.

    Cons

The corporate headquarters dictates what their factories in other countries must do even if it is not appropriate to the local market of that factory. Their factory should adopt strategies that are suitable for them to be competitive in the local field because it is the local market that generates the higher income not the international ones especially if the international transactions are only inter-company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The corporate management should adopt a dynamic strategy based on the needs of the local field to where their other factories are located. It should not make it general to make each factory cope well and stand a better chance of competing with their local rivals.
