Proswell, there are few good people

ConsHorrible Management, Low Pay, Extremely discouraging Work Place

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior Management and CEO are fine, but junior management needs to learn how to treat their employees right (also don't pretend like you know everything when in fact you have scammed your way to management level and don't even know how to do a simple math).

Current Employee – been working at American Tower full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThere aren't any these days.

ConsA New business model is designed to provide a tool (data base) which no longer manages document integrety, instead it measure response, process time, etc of each employeeout against other employees of same responsibilities. Eventually all of us that have been loyal employees will be terminator then replaced with short term contractors.

Advice to Senior ManagementEventually stockholders will figure out the games those members of the 3rd floor have played and the previous employee's you have wronged. I would expect stockhoolders will get tired of paying off lawsuits to those previous employees.

ProsGreat benefits, interesting job opportunities, stong global company, lots of people who care about the company and its success. Great equity package. Senior leadership is ethical and has helped navigate the company through a difficult global economy. It's part of a global industry that is growing quickly.

ConsIt's growing fast and therefore to be successful, it takes someone who is fast-paced, able to change directions quickly (and without complaint), driven and able to build relationships quickly. It's fairly conservative so you need to look and act the part.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep in mind that growth puts a strain on employees everywhere. Encourage managers to be better empowerers of work/life balance. Recognize all levels of the organization for Company's success.

Current Employee – been working at American Tower full-time for more than 3 years

ProsHigh-growth, fast paced environment that is creating significant shareholder value and along the way plenty of career progression opportunity for those team members and employees that want to be part of an exciting industry. Between the skyrocketing demand for telecommunications and wireless, coupled with a great business strategy by incorporating as a Real Estate Investment Trust, there is really no end in sight for how successful this company can be.

ConsThe growing pains associated with an acquisitive company are challenging and the global organization structure sometimes lessens the efficiency and goal of rapid growth and delivery value to customers faster.

Advice to Senior ManagementThink globally, structure centrally and prepare to scale for the next major wave of growth. Get the right players in the right roles with clear lines of accountability and authority to double the business in the next 3-5 years in a purposeful and strategic fashion that leverages the synergies across all markets and all talent..

Former Employee – worked at American Tower full-time for more than 7 years

ProsDecent pay and benefits. Farily comfortable office. Some departments are better than others in terms of employee motivation and morale, so look for those departments. There's also incredible job security here for at least the next few years as all the carriers race to upgrade their networks.

ConsNot much chance of advancement unless you're willing to forego having a personal life and become a "Yes Man" to the managers. There is also a definite emphasis on quantity over quality here.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the feedback your employees give on their exit interviews. When the company's dry cleaner notices, "Hey, that place has a lot of turnover, doesn't it?", you might have a problem.
