    Pros

Great benefits! They care about their employees. Work environment is okay. Fantastic in-house cafe. Onsite workout facility. Off holidays and start with good PTO.

    Cons

Mismanagement of department with no room for upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

The upper management needs to pay closer attention to middle management. Middle management takes too many liberties with their staff. They are given control by upper management and they take it to the limit and then some.

    Pros

Decent base pay, great benefits, good vacation program and time off.

    Cons

Ease of system use, language barrier with a lot of the clients. Commission has decreased to little or nothing and the base pay is not enough to deal with the stress that is involved. Job can be soul draining...

    Advice to Management

Change incentive plan to give agents compensation for polices they sell before they hit 70 sales. It takes all month to get to 70 sales and make little to no commission.

    Pros

Difficult to get fired they need bodies in seats desperately.

    Cons

Their performance measurements are unclear and always changing. If you ask for clarity on how you are being measured you get a different answer every time. It's hard to excel if you and not certain what exactly you are being measured by. Expect to put comparative negligence on a portion of your files. Management will expect you to find some negligence on every claimant even for cut and dry claims. Not very ethical and likely not in compliance with the DOI.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate your processes and make them more streamlined you have your overworked staff wasting time on non relevant tasks. Take inniative to make your employees happy and create a positive atmosphere. If you listen your staff will gladly tell you how to do that. Retaining your employees is a difficult task for Ameriprise. It doesn't take a lot of business sense to realize it cost less to retain employees rather than hire and train new ones all the time. You hire people for their experience because you don't want to invest in training however you don't except imput from those with a lot if experience. Your staff is dying to show you how to operate more efficient and effectively.

    Pros

    Flexible hours and schedule
    Friendly Environment
    Decent Benefits
High on integrity and good values

    Cons

Commission Structure doesn't make much sense for slow months
    Salary could be higher

    Pros

Decent pay and commission plan, great benefits. Very nice amount of PTO. Holidays off etc.

    Cons

Micro managed to the max, constantly changing guidelines, if you call in sick after a packer game they ding you double attendence points (so do not get sick during football season). They make it impossible for there sales reps to get a promotion. Dress code sucks, cant even where what you want on saturdays

    Advice to Management

Let the trusted employees have a longer leash.

    Pros

Benefits are good, growing company, good product to sell, good communication and consistent managers who are helpful

    Cons

In sales work on the phone all day every day, no room for advancement, bad work/life balance including working weekends, heavy micromanagement, hard to get any time off in the summer

    Advice to Management

Give sales agents more opportunities to provide and develop the company, no one likes working on the phones all day every day and many agents want to take on additional responsibilities

    Pros

Has good financial backing and some good front line employees. Is involved in the community.

    Cons

Poorly managed and consultants have to be hired every 7 years or so to try and get the company back on track. A lot of favortism shown and is part of the reasons why there is a poor management team.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the favortism and hold Supervisors, managers, Vice Presedents more accountable.

    Pros

Great group of people who truly care about the job and the work we do. Executive leadership team does a great job communicating and being available to everyone in the organization. The company works hard to make sure employees feel valued and have a good work/life balance. Strong fast growth is providing lots of advancement opportunties. Great benefits package including retirement/401k, generous PTO, closed holidays and Sundays with a Saturday rotation.

    Cons

The company's technology is outdated and cumbersome. The system is not intuitive at all, and is a bit quirky. That being said, this is an area the company has recognized and is taking steps to rectify.

    Advice to Management

Continue to do what you're doing with regards to employee satisfaction, client satisfaction.

    Pros

Growth for go -getters and reward for performance. Leadership very personal and approachable. Generous pto and benefits. Free parking and subsidized cafeteria with wide variety.

    Cons

Current legal dept inexperienced. To much limitation by parent company and finance dept. In selecting project work. Mid level leaders are a mixed bag with some fantastic while others disappointing and no accountability. Few outside experienced leaders creates limited viewpoints.

    Advice to Management

Need mandatory retirement age and more accountability for mid level leaders and staff functions. Need better counsel who understands the business.
