Unorganized, very little corporate support but able to work autonomously.

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is fair in everything they do. It's not the perfect place to work, but with everything they offer I would recommend for any of my friends to work here.

    Cons

The yearly increases could be a little better, outside of that...none that i can think of.

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The bar is set very low. You don't need to be competent to work here. As long as you keep your mouth shut and do the minimum to get by you'll likely have a job for life.

    Cons

You'll get bored and it will kill your career. You'll be surrounded by tons of corporate toadies. DO NOT go here if you are in any sort of technical field. This is NOT a tech company. They are firmly rooted in old school corporate culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a second look at all the kingdom building within your organization. Promotion from within isn't always a good thing. I'm specifically talking about IT and even more specifically Specialty IT. Those folks get paid waaaay too much. They'll never leave and you're actually encourage them to hold the status quo.

I worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Benefits good
    Stable company
    Company overall is growing

    Cons

Overworked. Wasn't uncommon to put in 60-80 hours a week.
Underpaid compared to others within the IT field, particularly given the hours worked.
IT Department restructuring and was a constant source of change.
    Little to no training.
large number of managers with a few workers. Needed more people actually doing the day to day work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to create a better work environment for employees.

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Huge opportunity for global expansion & great passionate people. Vision is fantastic!!!

    Cons

Still operating like it's a small company. IT department is one of the worst I've ever seen and maturely level of program/project management and issue resolution ranks at the bottom of the companies I've worked for.

No roles and responsibility clearly defined... 5 people doing one job and 1 person doing 5... I also was told that issues are not publicly discussed. As a Program Manager I don't know how to do my job if that is true!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sometimes it's OK to let Laggards go... we're a margin company and yet we don't have focus on efficiency or collaboration which results in cost negative results. We need to stop behaving like we're a garage company.

I worked at AmerisourceBergen as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Staff understands work-life balance, really decent human beings.
Business has been growing substantially within the past year.

    Cons

IBM Consultants take up a whole floor of one building and seem to add almost nothing to any discussion (nothing useful).
Growing pains from incorporating Walgreens in early 2014 (grew business by 40%); systems are not yet fully integrated.
Too much finger pointing on system vulnerabilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a strategy, stick with it.
Don't fall for the finger pointing games - get to the bottom of vulnerabilities and remediate.
