    Pros

    Great people to work with.

    Cons

Rarely promote temp workers to full time.

    Advice to Management

If they give contract, and temp workers opportunities to get promoted as full time workers, it would be a lot more efficient.

I have been working at Amgen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent pay, benefits, and stock awards.

    Cons

Too many layers of management creates a very striated culture. Many great people have left due to this.

    Advice to Management

Promote sharing of ideas regardless of level.

I have been working at Amgen full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I just started working at Amgen so I can't comment on much yet. The benefits are great, especially vacation and 401(k). The interview process was a bit intense, but everyone was very friendly.

    Cons

Amgen is a very large corporation with politics and bottom lines.

I worked at Amgen (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay nice work environment. A great opportunity to learn as much as you want is you go and get it.

    Cons

Too many people work from home making it hard to get in touch with them. Many people complain about current environment and they want it to be lie the old days.

    Advice to Management

You went to far cutting back. You took away the little things for people below Executive Director which improves moral, yet the people at the ED level and above still get all the perks.

I worked at Amgen full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and there are many very nice people working there.

    Cons

Layoffs and outsourcing models. Too much use of temp and contractors instead of allowing for staff to step into hybrid roles

I have been working at Amgen full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This company is truly going places with a growth strategy that makes sense. The long term success is a given with this momentum of potential blockbuster acquisitions and the pipeline including innovator as well as biosimilar molecules.

    Cons

Polarizing leaders have been in place for too long assembling more and more people into senior leadership teams that are just like them and alienate talented people below. A new scientific mega department has been formed recently merging two departments: a leader was put in place who depressed morale in previous assignments, seemingly unbeknownst to anyone above, and who many hoped would be managed out after a former big wig left for nebulous reasons. Instead this leader was promoted over more obvious choices in plain sight. There is now a glass ceiling for men to move up; equal distribution has long ceased. Much attrition (desired or realized) going on and nobody worrying about other potential consequences...

    Advice to Management

Must take a strong look at where the morale is rock bottom, where senseless ideas are being forced, and eliminate the root.

I worked at Amgen full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Compensation, location, campus and generally the fringe benefits offered....very generous company.

    Cons

Politics, managements inability to enable (and support) decision making at multiple levels. This is changing now so may not be an issue for newcomers. Uncertainty regarding domestic footprint.

    Advice to Management

Bob you have a plan and it appears to be working. Shed the old wood, eliminate decision by consensus and manage out the overly sensitive types that can not adapt to change.
