    I worked at Amkor full-time

    Pros

Latest technologies are always being tried on. Company is being used only as training ground.

    Cons

Too much politics, Koreans own mostly the company and Korean employees are jealous of US office. Managers do not have management skills. Very slow career growth because of incompetent managers. HR doea not have management training program. You're on your own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire and replace incompetent managers who are the main reasons why good people leave.

I worked at Amkor full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, hours and work environment. I was only there for 14 months because I moved away from AZ but I looked forward to going to work each day. The people were great and my job interesting. Of course this was when Mr. Kim was CEO. I do not know how it is there now. I just wanted to give my 2 cents about how I enjoyed the company.

    Cons

Only "challenge I ever encountered was getting my direct supervisor to understand that if my car broke down on the 101, I COULD NOT MAKE IT IN TO WORK! Too far to walk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees are people too and not everyone can afford to drive a Lexis - so be somewhat flexible.

I have been working at Amkor full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I really appreciate the strong management support, benefits package, and the flexibility to work from home if needed. There are a lot of highly educated and diverse people who work here. Ethics are really important at this company.

    Cons

It would be good to have the opportunity to train on more diverse topics such as excel spreadsheet manipulation or detailed review of some of the manufacturing services provided by Amkor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Getting a global workforce on board with corporate initiatives can sometimes be difficult but it always starts at the top and rolls through factory management and so on. Critical to get the entire organization on same page through clear communication at regular intervals. Even detail what certain teams must do to raise the level of performance as a company, accountability is important.

    Cons

International environment can create a complex multi-national working relationship. It takes desire to engage and openness to allow those you work with engage back.

I have been working at Amkor full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Nice Building and Parking Lot.

    Cons

New Management all IDM thinkers (and backgrounds) and don't have basic understanding of OSAT business model. Many VPs with zero to a few reports and one in particular with High School Degree. Everyone has a Director of VP title, but only to keep them around, since no one else would recognize. The good old boys are still in charge of the organization and not the new management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure your pockets are well lined because the real puppet masters in Korea will eventually replace you with more viable minions. The culture is a mess, no focus on change only nice PowerPoint presentation that do not encourage the troops.
