    Great Place to Learn

    Product Manager (Current Employee)

ProsYou will learn a lot in a short period of time. Great place to get your foot in the door. Fun products to work on. People are great to work with.

ConsIf hired as a temp, it takes a long time to become a permanent employee. Low pay. Not much room for career growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementHiring people full-time will decrease your turn-over.

Not a good place for long term

Layout Artist (Former Employee) Elmsford, NY

ProsGym, wellness programs and classes, free party goods.

ConsNo movement, no pay increases, no flexibility, no summer hours, no no no.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more flexible, open minded, nicer to employees. Model your business after places like Google and other nice companies that have no turnover.

Decent Job, Good Coworkers, Horrendous Management

Production Layout Artist (Current Employee) Elmsford, NY

ProsConvenient Location. Straight forward and simple work. Wellness program and benefits (except the paycheck) are outstanding.

ConsPay is not great. I'm not sure if there is one good manager in the entire building. The company promotes people purely by staying power alone. It doesn't matter how incompetent or unorganized you are anyone can be a manager if they stick it out for 12-15 years with the company. Unless you are staying late and coming in on Saturdays (which is hard when you actually have a life) you will not be recognized even if you get all you work done well. On top of the constant pressure to put in extra time and meet their unrealistic deadlines the layout artists get blamed for every single mistake regardless of who is actually to blame.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees with some dignity and respect. Understand that they are people who also have lives outside of the workplace.

    Stepping stone to future careers

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsPeople are great to work with. This company is a growing and a great stepping stone into the working world. Great fitness program available to all employees daily.

ConsSalary is very low. Things are pretty unorganized. There aren't enough manpower to work on the massive amounts of workload given.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees and hear out some of the concerns that needs to be addressed.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Not a career move!

Layout Artist (Former Employee) Elmsford, NY

ProsGood benefits, small gym, free wellness and exercise classes, decent benefits, credit union, retirement plans, profit sharing.

ConsDon't plant your roots here if you commute. Business is ever changing, somewhat growing, but also in negative ways, not all positive. For example, due to antiquated rules, management is not flexible with people that have children and families with long commutes, even if you are salaried! They expect you to work late, weekends and extra, but when you need time off to go to doctors, grab the kids from school, etc. they make you use your own personal, sick or vacation time, rather than your accrued comp time. Also, the handbook (also quite antiquated) says you are allowed to leave early or arrive late due to inclement weather and make up the time, but now they make you use your PTO again. The handbook serves as rules when it suits management, and only 'guidelines' when the content suits you. Base salaries are also low, the average layout artist earns on the low median annually and if you're lucky enough to be considered as a graphic designer, you won't make much more - but you might get to be creative. Turnover is horrendous and like a revolving door. It doesn't take long for new hires to realize what they are in to and get out. There is way took many corporate rules and red tape to contend with for a career, use it for quick cash if you live close by.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on thr biger picture and not the minute details. Pay employees what they deserve, be more flexible with hours and commutes and allow more than deny, the work will still get done.

Please do not work for this company. If they offer you a job, find something else!

Product Manager (Current Employee) Elmsford, NY

    ProsLooks great on your resume.

ConsCheap company, low salaries, hideous management, manipulative hiring practices, abuse of temps

Advice to Senior ManagementGet some of your senior PMs evaluated. They are psychotic.

Growing company, Great entry-level jobs, but not much room for growth.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Elmsford, NY

ProsTheir benefits are fantastic. They have a competitive medical, dental, and 401k program, along with a wellness program including fitness instruction. Their entry level jobs provide an opportunity to learn different aspects of the business, but be prepared to work HARD. Very hard. Personally, I feel the management imparts their work ethic on the staff, and it is hard not to feel motivated by the pace of the environment. They also have some fantastic people who work there, which was one of the reasons why I wanted to come to work every day.

ConsOver-worked, underpaid staff, and not much room for growth. They are growing, but are understaffed. Management have been in their positions for 10+ years, and some of them have been working there for 25+years. There is not a ton of opportunity to move up the ranks. It is a good entry level place, to gain experience, and then move on. Don't expect to make more than just below the market rate here, either.

Advice to Senior ManagementCould use more motivating factors to improve morale, including incentive bonuses to lower-level staff. Hiring more staff to take down the work load for some of the team, who are told to work countless overtime hours for pretty thank-less reasons. I'm directing this to the design and production groups, primarily.

    Trashed

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsLearned a lot of good print production

ConsVery pressured, very high turn over of mechanicals, expected to get 8 out a week.
Was blamed for something I did not do.
Never upfront, always behind your back regarding communication.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat people better.

Average Salary in an Industry that is Shrinking

    Territory Manager (Former Employee)

    ProsQuality Product
    Competitive Pricing and Discounts
Freedom and Independence (depending on your Sales Mgr)

ConsProblems shipping product, which ultimately affects your bottom line
Senior management that is out-of-touch with the realities of current economy
Constant changes to compensation packages, making it more difficult to earn a decent wage each yr

Advice to Senior ManagementYour outside Sales Reps ARE the company......customers buy from people, not a company.
