I worked at Anadarko Petroleum full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work-life balance. They treat employees very well. The people are great mostly.

    Cons

It's a big company, so there's some competition between departments and lack of coordination. Admin and reporting requirements can get overwhelming.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on results and staff development over reporting and administration.

I worked at Anadarko Petroleum as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great projects, great people, and a great atmosphere. The pay for engineering interns is second to none, and the amenities at The Woodlands campus are great. Industry leading benefits and compensation will likely remain intact through the down turn even though they don't make sense in the new environment.

    Cons

Entry-level full time employment opportunities are bleak due to the current commodity price environment. Decision has been made to resist layoff of current staff which is great considering other large O&G companies have not been able to do the same, but a lot of great talent will be missed in this effort.

    Advice to Management

Don't allow the small company feel and culture to slip away as the company grows. Internal review of current talent would be welcome by many who are pulling more than their weight.

    Pros

Good Pay, lots of perks, most people are easy to get along with

    Cons

Too rigid, not enough opportunities for people to advance in the company

    Advice to Management

Give people more opportunities and don't stick to such rigid roles for people as that does not do any good.

    Pros

I liked the hours and flexibility. The management is ok but don't care about real life situations. Thanks for the opportunity.

    Cons

Manger was over working me always on my back. Did not care when a close friend died. Made me work anyways. Also was hard to get off for Dr appt but so r a lot of jobs.

    Advice to Management

Care a little bit more! You need to understand when life happens to be a little bit more flexible. I didn't not thanks for the opportunity again.

I have been working at Anadarko Petroleum full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Compensation, Benefits, and Time Off are the best features. Strong values and ethics. Management seems responsive to the needs of employees. Facilities at the Woodlands office are incredibly.

    Cons

Compensation is being cut due to the downturn. The employees tend to be greedy and want more and more, especially in management.

    Advice to Management

If there is a need to cut due to the downturn, don't cut too much which is the tendency of the past. Don't always reward squeaky wheels.

I have been working at Anadarko Petroleum as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Anadarko understanding the sudden or un seen problems that may come up at the job site

    Cons

Looking after a large number of workers over a large location. Because u can't see everyone at one time. Just keep moving and watching for the most dangerous task being done.

    Advice to Management

Remember the hazards on the job site.
