Strong corporate culture, medium security, generally interesting

    Engineering Intern (Former Employee)
    Cambridge, MA

ProsI worked at a recent acquisition of ADI, so most of the cons didn't apply during my time there. The acquisition was very R&D, and so had a huge degree of flexibility and the cutting-edge technology stayed very interesting. We were insulated from most of the corporate-ness and politics, if only because our local management staff fought strongly to that end.

ConsADI is only slightly less corporate and controlling than other large, multi-billion-dollar companies. If you're looking for stability and regimentation, ADI's a good place to look without being completely soulless. On the other hand, it's still a big company and still has its share of annoyances. My review is probably more positive than lots, having avoided most of those.

Advice to Senior ManagementFour-walls is an unbelievably stupid and ineffective policy for IP management, and only serves to enrage your employees.

A Venerable Company on Brink of Change

    Manager (Current Employee)

ProsOnce one of the best places to be overall. In fairness their highest level of Management is diverse and all have great potential.

ConsOutside of Engineering many old timers struggling to keep up and hold onto power in mid level to Director with decisions based on politics and alliances. Especially in the manufacturing groups where Finance and HR are perceived as having too much power as leaders here are retired in place.

There is one factory where the GM found religion and to get ahead better join the church. An astute leadership team would have done something about that.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure to visit your sites and dig into details and stay for awhile. Do not always send the same people out for visits. Make sure non Engineering and Sales groups are not creating empires and covering up incompetance or outright wrong doing

Refreshing and thought provoking, this is a great place to work and develop you skills and enhance old skills.

    Technician (Former Employee)
    Wilmington, MA

ProsBenefits and compensation, as a employee are outstanding..And the work rotation works well.

ConsAs a contractor hours and compensation do not work, lack of profession acknowledgement between supervisors and their subordinates.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe vigilant to those that deserve praise and give it, keep all communication open, after that everything else will follow.

    Solid, conservative company

    Field Sales Engineer (Former Employee)
    Wilmington, MA

    ProsBenefits
    quality products
sales incentive plan, including high car allowance.

ConsSales Management is weak, inconsistent and inexperienced. Marketing and product lines (factory) have more expertise and less employment volatility.

Advice to Senior ManagementSales Engineers should be recognized and rewarded for demand creation and account penetration. Currently, there is no incentive for sales engineers to be proactive when there are many ADI sales engineers with employment longevity who are passive and reactive.
