I worked at Analog Devices full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The only pro is work-life balance as there is very little work to do.
    Goof engineering talent.

    Cons

In competent management, no new ideas. Most people have been there for too long and don;t do any work. Everyone acts busy but there are no results to show for it.
Incompetent management at the top and middle manager level. Very unprofessional and exploitative.
For those on H1B they will not file greencard till the fifth year. Corporate immigration is horrible and does everything to stall an employees career progress.
Very difficult to change groups and roles within the company.
Low pay and they can get away with it because they are located in the Greater Boston area where there are no other companies.
    Poor sales and marketing organizations.
DO NOT WORK HERE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ACCOMPLISHING ANYTHING IN YOUR CAREER.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire existing management and hire competent people. Management needs major overhaul.

I worked at Analog Devices as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Smart people, nice co-workers. I worked at Analog for just under two years and enjoyed my experience with my co-workers the most.

    Cons

Large corporation and drab office environment. Working at Analog means working in a sea of dull, gray cubes. I also had a bad manager which soured much of my experience at Analog. They wanted to bring me on as a full-time employee, yet that meant bringing my laptop home and working after hours, so I remained as a contractor since it benefited me more.

I worked at Analog Devices full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good products for the most part. Most of the people are wonderful to work with. Decent benefits. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Layoffs every year to the point that you are watching over your shoulder for the other shoe to drop. And it always does. Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. Poor communication between upper management and the rest of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the good ideas of your employees. And put them into action. Share some of those super inflated upper management salaries with the rest of the people actually making you look good.

Good Company to work for, but the highest level of management are white collar crooks.

I worked at Analog Devices full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Their technical work is very interesting. The people are great to work with. The pay is pretty good. There is plenty of opportunity for developing skills, once you get your work done.

    Cons

If you don't have a ring from MIT, you are looked down upon. There is never any chance, even temporarily, to put yourself first, however, when it come to personal or professional development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a career discussion with your employees. And don't ask the employees to make a sacrifice, such as taking a 10% salary cut, while the CEO pockets $53 million.

    Pros

Great culture and focus on continuous improvement. Good work / life balance/

    Cons

Not all groups the same, some older support organizations are filled with bureaucracy and outdated systems. Attempts are being made to improve but its slow going.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Firm up on identifying the poor performers and removing them. Its too difficult to address these issues under the current HR policies and procedures.
