I worked at Anaren part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Salaries, Atmosphere, and Corporate benefits are all great features of working at Anaren. Upper management is great too. Their new work-out facility & life-work balance initiative are great.

    Cons

Career opportunities. Really, for most people, there is little downside to working at Anaren. If you want to become a millionaire, don't go here - but then again, you wouldn't be in Syracuse if that is what you are after.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Anaren full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The biggest pro would have to be the full tuition reimbursement which also includes the cost of books. They also have community service days.

    Cons

The health insurance has been changes to a high deductible minimal coverage plan. The company has been very profitable for years and this was truly what many employees considered a "money grab". Also no room for advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to start looking beyond the bottom line. Your decisions have had a very negative effect on employee morale.

    Pros

This is an engineers company and not ruled by Wall Street or accountants.

    Cons

Anaren has a tendency to remain stuck in what is known within and not venture into new technology . They tend toward the familiar, both in skills, and in people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become aggressive in growth for each division, and demand performance.

If you are an RF engineer this is your place, others maybe not

    I worked at Anaren

    Pros

Small group of people acting like family. You get to know your employees and coworkers and in general this is one smart group. The folks here are well educated and the technology can be cutting edge. If you are an engineer in RF technology then you can really be a star here.

    Cons

The RF engineers are treated very well but others are treated more as support staff. Pay and promotions are weak unless you are one of the chosen few, either a RF engineer or a friend to management. The company is still small and although public, has that family feel. Unfortunately this leads to all the prejudices, infighting, preferential treatments and vying for attention you would come to expect in a family. Only the chosen few get ahead while one excuse after another is made for low salaries and incentives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more resources on creating equity in the workplace. Develop better guidelines for career improvement so that non RF engineers have a clearer path for career advancement.
