I have been working at Andersen Windows full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The best part about Andersen is the people. In general not as many enormous egos here as at other (fortune 500) companies I have worked for. Exciting line of products with constant innovation. The company did an amazing job of navigating the housing crash.

    Cons

IT technology and processes are outdated. Can be slow to change. Play in a single industry so financial results will be volatile.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a bigger effort to communicate business strategy. Error on the side of sharing more information not less. People will become more engaged.

    Pros

Master of process improvements, many growth opportunities, flexibility, transparency, regular career development involvement with manager.

    Cons

There are still neglected areas within the workplace, though I expect this to improve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on employee engagement from the ground up, not top down.

    Pros

Andersen is truly a special place to work. I have never felt more of an opportunity to make a difference in a company, with our customer or in our local community. Employees are incredibly welcoming of new hires and leadership empowers others to bring out their unique strengths. It is inspiring to work for the most reputable brand and leader in the window and door industry.

    Cons

Andersen has an opportunity to let the world know what a truly amazing employer it is to nearly 10,000 employees!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to stay true to your values that have always been the foundation that guides employees every day.

    Pros

nice co-workers. nice promises for new employees.

    Cons

Lots of long-term employees who are just putting in time or who are just burned out from working WAY too hard. They talk work-life balance - but expectations from leadership (director level anyway) do not match. Very poor HR management of problem employees. poor performing long-term employees are allowed to continue as they are while everyone just roles their eyes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You seem to be blind to what is really going on. You are loosing good employees. You are driving new employees away. Sr. level management needs to look at director level more closely.....that is where major problems are. Talk directly to those working for directors to find out what is really going on. It isn't good!

I worked at Andersen Windows full-time

    Pros

Not much. You get paid every two weeks and there are very few benefits. Lunch breaks are twenty minutes and you also get 2 ten minute breaks....what incentive...

    Cons

Very physical and demanding. The people you work with are set in their ways and rude. No area for personal growth unless you are related to someone in managment

    Cons

everything about the company is dishonest and the workload is impossible
