I have been working at Angelvision Technologies full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It is the most focused but casual company I have every seen or been a part of. There is individuality within a very strong team-oriented atmosphere and allowing that brings out a level of comfort in people that promotes creativity and produces successful production that is hard to match.

    Cons

If there weren't challenges then it would be unfulfilling. No company is perfect, and although this past year there were some indifferences within the company, I feel management has been adept at getting things back on track and moving in the right direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep leading forward but keep an internal open ear.

    Pros

Great projects: explainer movies, web sites, landing pages for clients' marketing.

    Cons

    Poor money management. Very sad!

    I worked at Angelvision Technologies

    Pros

Interesting job with varying challenges daily. I actually loved this job. Fully enjoyed all of my co-workers as well as clients. Really bummed about being laid off as I'm sure other employees were as well

    Cons

The company is unfortunately having fiscal struggles. I would have stayed on indefinitely because I enjoyed it so much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really think through repercussions of hiring and letting go of your employees when you think the hiring is for less than 1 years. It hugely is a negative impact on people's lives in a multitude of areas: fiscal, emotional, career path, etc.

    Pros

The team is very focused and committed. The management is part of our team and is moving us in the right directions.

    Cons

There has been a lot of change here but that is not really a bad thing since the company is behind the current management and their decisions.

I have been working at Angelvision Technologies as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Being able to work for one of the fastest growing companies in Oregon.

CEO and President are two of the most down-to-earth out-of-this-world people I know.

Studious but laid back and casual work environment.

    Cons

They only provide catered lunch once a week.

I have been working at Angelvision Technologies full-time

    Pros

Management is innovative and senior staff listen to new ideas. There's a feeling of ownership at this company, which helps create a positive and comfortable working environment. Contributions are acknowledged. It's a company that cares about the people who work there, especially considering the benefits package in which all health care is covered.

    Cons

The high standards can sometimes create procedures that are too extreme and difficult to implement within certain established timeframes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The owner isn't in the office much, which makes keeping him informed about all the details difficult at times.

I have been working at Angelvision Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people who work there are extremely talented and great to work with. The clients are great and the work itself is straightforward. There are a number of fun company events throughout the year that make it a fun place to work. Benefit package has a lot of perks. Free lunch on Fridays!

    Cons

The company is growing rapidly, which can lead to confusion as multiple initiatives are implemented simultaneously. The work environment differs greatly from one department to the next based on the management style in that department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase transparency and consistent communication throughout the organization. Seek to provide additional growth opportunities as the company grows.

I worked at Angelvision Technologies full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Free lunch on Fridays!

    Extremely hard-working staff.

Quite a few high-profile clients provide good resume material for employees to move on to better jobs elsewhere.

    Good medical benefits.

    Cons

Entirely mis-managed from the owner on down. The VP of Development consistently tries to tell the production teams how to do their jobs; the President runs the sales department yet somehow thinks he's a better writer than anybody on the creative teams; and the VP of Production spends about as much time out of the office as in it.

The entire office runs better when management is absent, as there is nobody interrupting you or hassling you over banal minutiae that serves no purpose other than to give management something to crow about and take credit for.

In a company of about 35 people they have had a turnover rate of nearly 50% -- within the past year over 16 people have either resigned, quit, been fired, or laid off.

AngelVision's chief design contractor, Darkwater Studios, was owned and operated by the VP of Production's husband (who ran the company into the ground and was bouncing paychecks) until AngelVision bought them out and made him the VP of Development. This obvious conflict of interest was (and still is) brought up to HR on several occasions, only to be ignored. The VP of Development also has over a dozen complaints against him filed with HR, but these too have been entirely ignored. Apparently being married to the other VP within the company makes you impervious to disciplinary action, despite the fact that he has been caught playing World of Warcraft during work hours, has no-call-no-showed on at least two separate client meetings, has no follow-through skills, has lied to clients and blamed it on other employees... The list goes on and on.

The pay scale is just over half of what the industry-standard is on similar jobs in the area, with no opportunities for advancement. They have often dangled promotions in front of employees in an effort to get them to work more/harder yet never delivered.

There is no inter-office communication -- the sales team routinely sells clients products or services that are no longer even offered, which causes problems for the production and creative teams when they make contact with the clients who are now expecting deliverables that were phased out months ago.

On top of the lack of cooperation (which is fostered by the President and VPs), there is an obvious hierarchy within the office where the sales team is untouchable and anything and everything that goes wrong is considered the fault of the creative teams. It is not uncommon to walk through the office and see, hear, and feel the stress in the air everywhere except the sales department, who are laughing, smiling, or dancing around the room.

Everybody (save the presidential trio) is overworked and regularly puts in over 40 hours a week with no compensation while they come and go as they please. The project managers routinely work 50-60 hours a week and the designers work 60-80 hours a week -- again, with no additional compensation and for about 60% of what they would make elsewhere.

Also, I was asked to write bogus, positive reviews and seed websites with them to counteract honest, yet negative reviews floating around the internet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let your employees do their jobs - you hired them for a reason, so trust them.

You've boasted record profits and growth over the past several years - pay your employees what they're worth.

A company that small should have almost complete transparency - keeping secrets from your employees creates an atmosphere of fear and mistrust.

I have been working at Angelvision Technologies full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I started as a trade show rep and have moved up to a management position. That was 9 years ago. It is great to work at a company that values innovative ideas & input from its employees. They are very clear with communication and projects' needs. All team member are encouraged to be honest, passionate and creative about their jobs. The work-life balance is great. Senior leadership truly respects employees' personal time, and shows a lot of support for flexible schedules and autonomy.

    Cons

Definitely not for you if you need your hand held. Requires entrepreneurial attitude and commitment to getting the job done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
