Former Employee - Third Officer in Mumbai (India)

    Pros

Salary, the management office, comprehensive safety awareness, policies & implementation, good training

    Cons

The direct nature of work means working conditions can get difficult, if you are dealing with a small number of people whose thinking binds meekness to respect & give people a hard time even when they are motivated and performing well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Discussing and improving cultural and training environments on board, with senior officers. Senior staff must be made aware of the importance of maintaining a professional & respectful workplace on board.

Current Employee - Master in Singapore (Singapore)

    Pros

Open and transparent office culture with clear structure and well defined job responsibilities. One of the best
paymasters in the industry. Dedication to training and safety is top down. Great emphasis on trust between individuals. No blame culture. A career here is more of a lifestyle than a salaried job.

    Cons

Being a ship management company, they do have their genuine limitations in terms of spending on everything that may be a industry best practice suggestion, contrary to a company like BP.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Analysis and forecasting based on big data is the way to sustain in the rapidly changing landscape of global business. Diversification in to related and unrelated industries would be prudent at this stage before technology overtakes any one industry.

Former Employee - Marine Engineer in Mumbai (India)

    Pros

timely salary, good training centre... but nowadays most of the companies have this so nothing too great in that

    Cons

Too much of favoritism in the company, no timely sign off, the shore office people treat the sea going staff pretty badly as if they are doing a great favor by sending us on ships,
if you are a new person in the company then better beware cause even your small mistake will be made into big problem for you, the older senior sailing staff in the company is to critical of the new people joining.

    Pros

Promotes and make scope for new talents to join merchant navy as a career. The environment of company is employee friendly

    Cons

As i said the company promotes new talents into the industry but of the same side there are many people who are capable to do this job but are not aware. So i think that the company and industry society needs to do more to spread awareness
