    Pros

Great benefits for employees. Vacation time

    Cons

Slow to promote. The annual review rating usually has nothing to do with the salary increase.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the employees needs

    Pros

Relaxed casual environment/ dress code. Friendly associates, everyone is like family.

    Cons

HR associates are horrible. They act as though they are on your side but they really aren't (unless you're one of their favorites). They conduct exit interviews with departing associates but nothing ever comes out of that - they might as well stop doing them.

    Pros

Had a great group of friends at work. The discount was great and could be used at The Loft also.

    Cons

The normal cons of working in retail. Every week I had a different schedule and my hours were never consistent.

Try and provide some consistancy with the schedule and offer employees a way to grow with the compay

I worked at Ann Taylor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great discounts on clothing. Clientel respect the brand. Good health package for full timers. Trying hard to compete and stay relevant with the young crowd. Not commission based.

    Cons

No work/life balance for salaried managers. Hourly management encouraged to work off the clock. Part Timers often get cut to 4 hours a week regardless of how good a worker you are. So many labor laws broken throughout my tenure with this company I can't believe there has never been a class action lawsuit. Moving up is more about who you know and not merit. You are expected to wear their clothes and follow fashion trends in magazines. Sales goals are unrealistic. Workload is intense, forcing staff to sacrifice customer service in order to accomplish the ever changing company directives each day.

    Advice to Management

As someone who started as PT retail sales and moved up to FT management I saw the company go through many changes over the years. My advice is to go back to basics and be consistent on respecting people that work for you. Let your hair down, ditch all the cliche board meeting ideas, listen to customers and learn how to have genuine fun in the stores.

I worked at Ann Taylor full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Great PTO - Great learning experience; sourcing, product development, product - Great friends

    Cons

    - Too much work and not enough people to do it all - Very long hours (like 7am to 8,9,10,11, and even midnight) - A lot of the work is caused by inefficient processes and unrealistic expectations by management.

    Advice to Management

    - Relook at existing processes and systems and update. - Remove any activities that are not value-added. - Work-life balance!!

    Pros

Steady paycheck, HR who tries to fix problems, very nice offices, management tries to do a good job, company does nice things in the community like charity contributions.

    Cons

The product is not cool, so it's not a great place to advance your career if you want to work for cool brands.
