I have been working at Ann Taylor as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

I have been working with this company for almost 2 years. I love my working team, and the managers.

    Cons

The company doesn't make any salary difference between sales associate and visual merchandiser.

I worked at Ann Taylor part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

There are many opportunities within this company to learn and grow and thrive. Advancing is rather easy if you show the right qualities for the job. Also, the scheduling was always fairly consistent.

    Cons

The hours were not always easy to work, consistent as they were. When switching between collections we would sometimes end up staying into the late hours of the night to finish the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The corporate business is very tight and allows little room for creativity. I would suggest letting your store managers have a little bit more reign as to what goes on in their store (mainly merchandising, dressing mannequins, etc.). Most of them have great ideas that can reflect the different styling opportunities of Ann Taylor clothes.

    Pros

I really enjoy the team here. It is a positive and buzzing environment and there is a never a dull day. My managers are flexible with my schedule and discussing more hours.

    Cons

There has been quite a few changes in store management including the hiring and resignation of many managers. With this transition has brought some disorganization and miscommunication between employees.

I worked at Ann Taylor part-time

    Pros

Very friendly people. Good to enhance your customer relation skills and people skills. Lots of opportunity to succeed and excel. Managers make you feel good about your work.

    Cons

The scheduling system is limited. Not much control in the tasks you'll be completing on any given day. A lot of variability in tasks assigned. Sometimes tasks assigned are not a part of the job and shouldn't be assigned.

    Pros

I worked in the office as a temp in the dresses department. It was not a bad experience working back retail. Fair pay, tasks are demanding but not too serious, friendly environment

    Cons

Not much work to be done, tedious at times

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More tasks would have keep me in the company. Sadly, it was just a temp assignment for four months.

I worked at Ann Taylor part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good employee discount at 50% but the product is crap quality- it's like Forever 21 for adults. Coworkers were cool I guess, but they'll hire anyone so there were a lot of dead weights

    Cons

No full time positions unless you're a Co-Manager or Manager- everyone is part time, including Sales Leads. The upper management is the biggest problem. They hire multiple Sales Leads, pay them pennies, and expect them to run the whole sales floor solo for hours on end. They ditch you the moment things get hairy/busy/overwhelming. Within my first week I was told by one of the Co-Managers "We (management) don't take 10s (ten minute breaks)"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do your job, meaning stop assigning yourself brainless tasks that should clearly be done by lower level employees. Get off the computer and get onto the sales floor and contribute to the business.
