I worked at Ann Taylor part-time

    Pros

Very friendly people. Good to enhance your customer relation skills and people skills. Lots of opportunity to succeed and excel. Managers make you feel good about your work.

    Cons

The scheduling system is limited. Not much control in the tasks you'll be completing on any given day. A lot of variability in tasks assigned. Sometimes tasks assigned are not a part of the job and shouldn't be assigned.

I worked at Ann Taylor part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good employee discount at 50% but the product is crap quality- it's like Forever 21 for adults. Coworkers were cool I guess, but they'll hire anyone so there were a lot of dead weights

    Cons

No full time positions unless you're a Co-Manager or Manager- everyone is part time, including Sales Leads. The upper management is the biggest problem. They hire multiple Sales Leads, pay them pennies, and expect them to run the whole sales floor solo for hours on end. They ditch you the moment things get hairy/busy/overwhelming. Within my first week I was told by one of the Co-Managers "We (management) don't take 10s (ten minute breaks)"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do your job, meaning stop assigning yourself brainless tasks that should clearly be done by lower level employees. Get off the computer and get onto the sales floor and contribute to the business.

    Cons

    Very Stuck up
    Strict fashionable dress code
    Fellow employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to keep employees, I suggest talking to those who work there and explaining to them that they are adults and not teenagers in high school. My experience may have been different than others, but I assure you, I will never be working at another Ann Taylor.

    Pros

$2.5 B company, having them on your resume can open doors just with the name alone. Corporate structure so they abide by all EO laws, federal and state that many small companies ignore.

    Cons

Very caddy working environment. The designers abuse privileges such as overseas trips to Europe where anything is expensed, even their own personal purchases. They think they rule the company until they receive their walking papers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Restructure attitudes from the top down.

    Current Employee - Store Manager
    Current Employee - Store Manager

I have been working at Ann Taylor full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

So many amazing clothes, I treat the store as my very big closet (which means I end up buying a lot of clothes)
As a store manager I get to select an amazing team
The store managers I work with on average are really supportive and great personalities

    Cons

Workflow is challenging to complete in allotted time
Managers are scheduled in as floor coverage
work life balance can easily get out of whack, especially with constant changes to already scheduled workflow
High turnover in sales associates (means more training) and high turnover in DMs
Part Time Sales Leads and Sales Associates should make more than company guidelines allow
It's retail, hours are sporadic you will work most evenings and never see your family during holidays

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Store Managers should not be part of floor coverage
Stop over allocating business to unreachable goals, especially with what last year sales were
