A large employer who offered good employee benefits to their employees.

Director of Sales (Former Employee) Newbury Park, CA

ProsIn the 1980's, 1990's and early 2000's, you could count on a long and stable career.

ConsWhen Wellpoint - The parent company of Blue Cross of California and Anthem merged forming Anthem Blue Cross, things changed drastically. Re-organizations every one to two years with new CEO, CFO, and mid-level management. No clear direction. Profit driven.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo back to basics which made you such a great company to work for, for many decades.

    Stay away from Account Management!

Account Management (Former Employee) Los Angeles, CA

    ProsWork life balance was good

ConsManagement brought in from outside and brings in their former co-workers. Low department moral, no team atmosphere everyone watches their own bus and WILL throw you under the bus! Management could not be trusted in the Woodland Hills or Los Angeles office. Very poor.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to both sides of a story instead of a co-worker who was a VP and demoted to Account Executive. Title is everything to these people.

Was a great place to work prior to the merge with Anthem

Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) Woodland Hills, CA

ProsWellpoint/Anthem before the meger with Anthem was a great place to work. Good benefits and flexable schedule is what's left now. Anthem has cut many benefits including PTO time and your paid holidays. It's a good place to get some experience then run with it and get out.

ConsOutsourcing to Phillipeans, India and IT parts of Centeral and South America, as well. As a worker you are under the fear of losing your job to outsourcing and the company wants you to train your overseas replacement.

Customer-oriented, business-friendly company that strives to meet today's demands of Healthcare System in the U.S.A.

Senior Advisor (Current Employee) Woodland Hills, CA

ProsGood people, excellent benfits, competitive compensation package,

ConsThe Company is crumbling under its own weight. There are dozens Project managers involved in a single project due to the sheer size of the company. Everything moves slowly. The procedural hurdles are often bigger than the development challenges.

Advice to Senior ManagementSimplify procedures, reduce paperwork, allow more testing time for the complex projects, delegate procedural responsibilities to field-level managers instead of creating additional control structures

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
