Pros
Work/Life Balance
Company Culture
Well respected organization
Innovative and strategic
Leader in the industry
Growth through acquisitions
Global consulting firm
Cons
Pay is less than expected in the industry. Bonuses are seemingly non-existent. Lay-offs occurred while CEO was paid his $20M salary and bonus. Mass group exodus in certain practices to competitors.
Advice to Senior Management
Worry about retaining your "unmatched talent" through compensation and pay incentives. Aon is nothing if not its people. Value that.
Pros
its globally recognised and thus appealing
Cons
Overloading and not too good compensation for over time
Pros
There are loads of resources to be able to draw from to assist your clients. High energy workplace and dedicated coworkers.
Cons
Constant change leads to job insecurity. Promises made about bonus' and raises don't seem to be honored. Workloads are excessive, 60 -80 hour weeks are not uncommon.
Advice to Senior Management
You are at a point that you can't do more with less. People are overworked and exhausted. They will start leaving as the economy turns.
Pros
Working hours are okay, not bad.
Cons
Low productivity, doesn't feel like working at an international firm.
Not too intelligent employees, high quality graduates should look elsewhere
Pros
Recognition, one of the better brokerages in the world.
Cons
Stagnant wages, no professional career path, virtually no opportunities to move up within some units.
Advice to Senior Management
1% raises are not acceptable when senior management pay is increasing exponentially.
Pros
Good upper management. Good benefits.
Cons
Poor middle managers. Cut throat atmosphere in office.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve team dynamics and reduce incentive for workers to push their own agenda.
Pros
global clout, international, reputable, most colleagues and managers easy-going,
decent benefits package
Cons
poor IT capabilities, bureaucratic, too self-centered
Advice to Senior Management
promote based on merit
more competive salary
Pros
Great benefits. Very large Corp. Business teams are very strong and are offering very solid products to customers!
Cons
Aon is known for continuous change but be very weary to joining IT at this time. The most prevelant struggling team is the core infrastructure group and PMO. I've seen several great folks moving out of there quickly. Re-orgs are almost quartly and promotions seem very political. Roles within the business IT seem to be more secure and forward looking.
Advice to Senior Management
Please be more mindful of current client needs to built a solution shop not a service shop. Lack of support and power balance is going to cause your core infrastructure teams to fail.
Pros
International exposure, training and development
Cons
senior management at all levels and in all companies do not listen. employees are treated as disposable assets and are not respected
Advice to Senior Management
interview those who have left your organization. listen to employees. learn respect and how to use it
Pros
Professional environment, Respectful work place, Reasonable benefit package.
Cons
Poor Communication, Many changes are going on, HR acts very poor.
