    Pros

If you are a direct hire, your compensation will be much hire than a contractor. Many available position during annual enrollment. You will be good friends with your co workers and they will be there to provide all the support you need.

    Cons

Call Centers can feel like the modern day sweat shop. Its a by-the-numbers business. They label you with a number and then monitor every second you are off the phone, your breaks, overtime, quality, stats, and it can feel very difficult to show what you bring to the company when Aon provides raises and promotions based solely on numbers.

    Advice to Management

I understand that you wish to increase states to bring in more clients, and as such you are asking more from your employees who are the lowest common denominator. But when you ask for us to do more, you should show us what you will bring to the table for your employees.

    Pros

large organization. lots of opportunity. lots of resources. excellent benefits

    Cons

too many silos. lots of thinkers not many doers. culture is difficult for new hires. most of the current staff was hired right out of college and this is their first and only job 15+ years later. most emplyees have been at Aon for 15+ years. lack of perspective

    Advice to Management

the organization needs to be more innovative. take more risks. As a rule in business, if you are NOT doing anything risky you are not doing anything innovative.

    Pros

Friendly workplace, located in a quiet suburb. The interview process was fairly easy. Low pressure. Optional overtime increased my salary significantly.

    Cons

The organization pays a bit below the industry average. The firm does not seem to easily allow internal transfers, and there seems to be high employee turnover

    Pros

Hours are relatively flexible, and working from home is fairly common. Cafeteria is okay, but a bit pricy. Covered parking is plentiful. Employer match for 401k is 6%. Most colleagues are pretty friendly and personable; it is not a "high pressure" environment. Pay is reasonable given the low complexity of the work.

    Cons

First and foremost, despite what you may have heard or been told, this is NOT a "consultant" or "analyst" position. The job title is what it is for a reason: at its core, this role is a manual processing position. The title also makes it sound like you deliver packages. There is little to no analysis involved in this position, and there is absolutely no numerical or financial component. You will spend a significant amount of time looking through individual participant accounts and manually updating data. The other major component is answering individual participant questions, as you are just one step removed from actually answering the phones yourself. If you were told you'd be "solving problems", this is what they were referring to. Very little of the knowledge or skills acquired over time is transferrable to another role or another firm, as almost everything is proprietary. The technology and software in use is remarkably outdated and frequently causes rework and delays because of its unpredictability. Many positions are offshored, but for whatever reason, work output and quality tends to be low, causing you additional rework and delays. Most of the onshore employees have been here for years, and you can sense a very real hesitance to embrace change. You will soon find yourself drowning in the monotony of the work, as most of it is repeated daily or weekly. Engagement of employees in this role is remarkably low and as a result, turnover is remarkably high. General consensus is that the role description was not an accurate representation of the responsibilities. If you are coming in through the "Launch" program, you will find that the so-called leadership development consists of monthly call-ins where somebody at the firm talks about their job. As far as development programs go, Launch was terribly underwhelming. Yearly raise was a slap in the face. Benefits premiums are increasing. Paid time-off does not rollover.

    Advice to Management

The delivery specialist role portrait should be drastically overhauled. It's alleged to be a "talent pipeline" for upper level roles, but you treat it like another cog-in-the-machine position. There's a reason why new hires are leaving or trying to leave this job less than six months in. There must be a target audience for this role, but it's currently not being advertised correctly or to the right population because everyone is trying to jump ship.
