I worked at Apex Systems as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Pay was amazing for the job. [Job was essentially data entry. Sadly it doesn't look like these positions exist any more. (Contract was with AT&T Mobility, AMT Provisioning department)]
     - 4/10 shift available
     - Weekend shift available

    Cons

It was Full-Time position, but was as a Contractor, so the usual:
     - Mediocre benefits (medical, no vacation time, etc)
     - No Overtime

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None or N/A.

I have been working at Apex Systems as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    Direct Deposit
    Travel Reimbursements are Quick
    Tool Reimbursement
    Friendly Representatives and Support Staff
Willing to fix conflicts when they arise
    Travel and Entertainment Discounts

    Cons

E-Mail responses are most of the time sluggish or no response
When calling their office, their employees WILL screen your calls if they don't like you
Pay is non-negotiable and needs to be fixed
No after-hours support if you are traveling - HUGE ISSUE
Reimbursement policy and procedures are flaky

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make your reps/staff be more responsive and allow employees to negotiate their wages. Provide an after-hours support method for traveling contractors.

I worked at Apex Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Met some good people, developed some communication skills

    Cons

Micromanaged like no other job I've ever dreamed of having. Poor morale in "the pit" but great money and opportunities for AM's.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too "cookie cutter" of an environment. Spread the wealth to recruiters. Not nearly a good enough commission structure.

Avoid if you are the talent, go for it if you are the recruiter.

I worked at Apex Systems as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Paperwork and paychecks arrive on time.
Recruiter occasionally visits with treats or takes you out to lunch.
Aggressively push their clients to hire the talent.
Intensely focused on their client relationships.

    Cons

Apex is a headshop. They focus heavily on positioning people because the cut they take from the talent is their bloodline, end of story. Just look at the reviews. Recruiters love them, talent regards them as a quick setup followed by invisible presence. This is mediocre if you land at a place you are happy in. Not fine if they drop you into a disaster.

There is no professional effort to keep talent loyal to Apex. Technical people might as well be cows as far as they are concerned. Just keep working and when the client is done with you, go collect unemployment.

There are agencies who take team-based approaches, where talent takes top priority, and who invest heavily in keeping talent loyal and advancing in their practice. Agencies who relocate talent when the gig is not a good match for the laborer. I work for such an agency now, have advanced significantly in my role and salary across multiple clients, and we are hiring. Apex does none of this.

That they skimmed a percentage of my paycheck for about a year is really all I have to acknowledge them by.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pat yourselves on the back if you are still earning profits from the people you have doing the heavy lifting for you, but keep in mind that the technical community becomes networked over time. I will never recommend Apex as a place to work for the talented people I know. Those who don't meet my standards may end up supplying your coffers, and I would be happy to send them your way even if all I get out of the deal is their work away from my projects.

I have been working at Apex Systems as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Lots of contact from Apex at the start of my contract.

    Cons

Toward the end of my contract, had a difficult time finding out about possible further contract extension.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communication between client/customer toward the end of contract.

    Pros

    Great exposure to big companies

    Cons

They only care about the client
Once your contract ends, good luck getting anyone to respond if you are interested in another position
They ask you to take a pay cut or leave in the middle of your contract

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Balance the needs of client and your employee

I have been working at Apex Systems

    Pros

If you have an extensive resume you will be offered many opportunities. And, if if they help employ you, you also help them remain employed.

    Cons

It is the nature of these temporary contract positions... these are temporary positions, neither allowing you to make any headway on building seniority at the company you are working for, nor receive the other benefits normally associated with that position.

    I worked at Apex Systems

    Pros

Apex recruits well - if you start with the company you are guaranteed to meet a few new friends; the environment is "work-hard, play-hard"
You will learn some things about sales, deadlines, and working with others

    Cons

The compensation is not fantastic while you are working up to management, although many jobs are that way when you start off. You are expected to stay as long as needed after hours to fill specific positions; this job can inhibit your work/life balance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be helpful to be more understanding to those who have other obligations outside of work and be more supportive of a work/life balance
