    Pros

The people who work at AEG are its best asset. It truly is more of a 'family' than a workplace and the opportunity to help deserving students obtain an education and progress their careers is one of the best perks.

    Cons

There is a lot of confusion about the future strategy which creates a very difficult working environment. Continuous management changes and knee-jerk reactions to strategic initiatives have resulted in a tumultuous and stressful working environment that is very difficult to keep employees motivated. Hopefully, this will turn around but very tough to keep a passionate and productive team.

    Pros

Flexibility, education scholarship availability for those pursuing to do so, ability to expand knowledge, work from home (if applicable to position), pay scale is decent

    Cons

Typical office politics, very clique-ish, nepotism unfortunately very prevalent, expect to assume responsibility outside of work scope (unfamiliar territory)

    Advice to Management

Promote those whom are deserving of promotion, not those whom are your friends. Take the time to recognize those whom stand out, or even make giant leaps. They will appreciate at it and value your recognition.

    Pros

Front line employees focus and live the mission of the organization, decent benefits including education support

    Cons

After years of transformation engagement levels are low, lack of leadership at the executive level (evident in CEO rating), missing focus on employee engagement and positive career experience, too many cooks in the kitchen, not the right voices included in critical decision making

    Advice to Management

Define priorities and execute those with intention, focus on getting engagement back up, empower leaders to make decisions and lead their teams, strive for effective collaboration (don't just say you want to be collaborative or over-collaborate to the point of distraction and performance loss)

    Pros

The program was great. They set us up with everything. There were a variety of events and learning opportunities. My VP encouraged me to learn from many different teams.

    Cons

Not enough employees to get stuff done since there were a lot of layoffs prior to me starting. There were also layoffs and people quitting while I was there. The people that were there either seemed to be doing nothing or were swamped.

    Advice to Management

Stop firing people and get more quality hard workers on the teams.

    Pros

    1. Flexible and relaxed work environment 2. Pay is at par with the industry, but benefits are very constrained when you try to use them. 3. It's in a great space that is ripe for a quality growth if managed properly.

    Cons

    1. Middle management runs around like a headless chicken running from one issue to another and wastes a lot of time in useless meetings seeming to be very busy 2. Exec Management has absolutely no clue as to what is happening below. They rely solely on whatever BS that gets fed to them. 3. Bottom line, Management from top to bottom is horrible and rife with infighting and politics. 4. Most of the talented people have left and the show is being run by mostly sub par run of the mill people. Some pockets of good have been sidelined and taken over by mediocres. 5. Constant layoffs and re-org has inflicted low morale in the remaining personnel. 6. Absolutely no personal growth or training provided to the employees.

    Advice to Management

    1. Bring in new management (including a new CEO) who can bring some fresh ideas and meaningful honest work culture. 2. Treat your customers (i.e. students) with respect. Don't gauge them and provide them with sub par product. Instead provide a better value proposition. 3. Change otherwise the upstarts like Courser, Public online offerings etc. will eat your lunch in a few years. Just look at the stock price in the last 7 years. Its been trending down which says a lot about where the company is going. So, change is needed fast !! otherwise this ship is going down..

    Pros

There is a lot of potential within the company; you can move throughout departments, network, and meet people in a plethora of occupations, allowing you to customize your career based on your talents.

    Cons

In such a large company, it is important that you do something that sets you apart from the rest. You can easily become a number if you allow yourself to fall in to that.

    Advice to Management

Be critical of your employees. Don't allow those who got a position, to stay in it, undeserved, just because you have a lot on your plate.

    Pros

Steady work, lots of interaction with students, coworkers, and upper management, challenging problems and critical thinking a must.

    Cons

Position's level of demand can be overwhelming if employee does not have strong time management skills, additional expectations include asking for recommendations for student enrollment (not part of the job description), currently using Salesforce/SRM which is very counterproductive to the position. opportunity to transfer out of position very difficult after 5 years because transfers are not lateral.

    Advice to Management

abandon Saleforce, the system is counterproductive to position and purpose of finance counselors.

    Pros

Low expectations for individual job performance. The company is changing and thus, the employees who remain are not micromanaged or placed under a lot of work stress. They want to make a difference in education

    Cons

The company want to change and it is leaving behind the best work from the past. They also cannot stop laying employees off. Every several weeks someone is being laid-off. This is a lack of leadership and an HR department that is not pushing back.

    Advice to Management

Stop the bleeding and the employee churn. Don't abandon a working team trying to build a new one. Laying off a team and rehiring some of them without the leadership in place is short sighted.

    Pros

Hard work is definitely rewarded. Leadership tries to understand capabilities of employees and there are opportunities to grow. Great benefits. Encourages collaboration of employees within the company. Good work life balance.

    Cons

Politics with the company and different groups. Lay offs and reorganizations can bring down the morale of employees and the company can lose good employees.
