Pros
Made good friends. We used to have classes, not anymore.
Cons
People are not respected. This is a great place for layoffs. The constant fear of being let go disrupts the work.
Advice to Senior Management
Have managers help employees with their career advancement.
Pros
salaries. benefits. good colleagues with strong camaraderie. high class technology.
Cons
bureaucratic and very political to advance in the company. training provided is insufficient yet managers expectations can be unreasonable. employees are placed in difficult and more testing conditions than others, and this is not considered when performance evaluation is conducted at the end of the year. skills and knowledge acquired is not transferable to other industries.
Pros
Superior Technology
Diverse Market penetration
Global presence
Lots of cash
Cons
Applied became more focused on saving a dollar. Moved to much overseas. Lost sight in the value of their employees. Focused to much on Solar.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep more of it's core business in the U.S.
Pros
It is a work place one enjoys with reasonable provided benefits.
Some of the managers are worth working with and good to be in company with for professional growth.
Cons
No personal growth , however lately HR started realizing this one after Survey. Were they sleeping before?
First Level managers, need to pass down culture the fashion they receive from their.
Department matters a lot for growth where one joins. Give importance to work rather than money as later you may realize there hasn`t any value addition in your professional growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Change is required. Some old manager is still lying for ages now. Stagnation is death.
Pros
People: Great Managerrs and leaders
Challenging Work: Make you think
Ability to impact change: Your thoughts and action are considered
Good Balance: Hard work with some downtime
Cons
Political: Sucees is about what you do an who you need to work with to accomplish
Significanat nunmber of employees are long tenured - sense of entitlements
Pros
good pay; opportunity to move around
Cons
long hours, work a lot of week ends
Advice to Senior Management
co workers need to be more responsive and friendly. difficult to get things done. no rewards or expectations for collaboration
Pros
Other than some managers, most employees are great to work with and are very helpful. Good team attitude between coworkers.
Cons
Some lower level managers are still in high school playing their little click games so if you're not part of their group you don't get recognized. These managers are also so intent on moving up the ladder that they forget they have people working for them and don't seem to be part of the "team".
Advice to Senior Management
When an employee has put more than 9 years in with the company with consistently good performance reviews and is terminated for not shipping "one" back order on time (because purchasing couldn't get all the parts in on time), maybe the manager has a personal vendetta against that employee (I was asked to give a anonymous review on my direct manager which I believe was shared with him because this upper manager who asked for the review was "buddy buddy" with him). There should have a review process in place to ask the employee their side of the story so they don't loose good employees.
Pros
Good work culture. Nice, co-operative employees. Challenging job.
Cons
Less focus on employee career development. Un-transparent promotions and recognition policies.
Advice to Senior Management
Should include emplyoee development as one of the core company values, and should work towards it sincerely.
Pros
Hard working people, but, very cyclical.
Cons
Lay offs were too frequent and caused serious damage to people's lives and their jobs.
Advice to Senior Management
Manage the supply / demand curve !
Pros
Applied Materials allow the employee a lot of flexablity and freedom on the job.
Cons
Many lay-offs and high stress
Advice to Senior Management
Need to praise their employee's more often.
