I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Applied Materials was great back in the day. I really enjoyed the 401k matching and profit sharing plans. Decent paid time off plans too.

    Cons

Too many layoffs so it's a very nerve wracking environment. Also, not a great work life balance so it seems like you have to do one or the other - devote yourself to work or have a family.

I worked at Applied Materials as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

World class organization, strong work ethic and very efficient work force. World class infrastructure, and very capable leveraging of international work force.

    Cons

Word Class operation of engineers under lot of pressure. They are efficient and move quickly, and as a consequence are reluctant to indulge those not on their level. There are staff that can sometimes be demanding to the point of being rude, and engineers are socially insular to begin with, so it can be a stressful work environment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

.ALso, there is a very distinct two class system in the corporate culture: VIPs and every one else.. This causes dis enfranchisement.

    No opinion of CEO
