    I worked at Applied Medical

    Pros

If you are talented, ambitious and act with integrity then Applied is a great place to work and progress rapidly in your career development. There are many great team members and managers that will support your development who truly believe in the philosophy of the company.

    Cons

It really is a great place to work with many fantastic colleagues, if mentioning negatives then the main one which sure many other mention too is the salary. It can sometimes be a challenge to have a significant change in this even when your role/results changed and includes a far greater responsibility/deliverables.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Applied is a wonderful organisation that does a brilliant job and has great products. I have had some wonderful managers and found that if they weren't for some reason then the situation was quickly resolved which was great. I guess the only thing is I would say that could be done differently is maybe a review on salaries, understanding the company philosophy in some ways does assist in the argument around this but if there are really talented people, it is such a shame that they have to leave to get what is fair for what they deliver.

I worked at Applied Medical full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Applied Medical is an excellent place to gain valuable experience in the OR. You will have lots to do trying to set up cases with surgeons and materials managers. If you have an opportunity to set up or work an evaluation you will get months of experience in a few weeks.

    Cons

Management has a hard time getting focused in a certain direction. Maybe it was my manager in particular. But the company as a whole does not value its sales people. They have a lot of turnover and it appears that they like that model. Get a new rep, work them hard, sign up a few new accounts, and then let them go. After all they just gained more new business and no rep to pay. Most reps leave on their own from the poor benefits and frustration with management. The training is very good, but it is brutal. 3 weeks in California. New material every day with tests the following morning on the previous day. Get less than a 90% and you have to retest. Get less than 90% on 3 tests and you go home without a job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put some real value in retaining good reps. Make the compensation so that reps want to stay. Revamp the benefits and 401k to make it a desirable place to work for a longer time.

I have been working at Applied Medical full-time

    Pros

Very strong manufacturing operation that provides quality products at a significant discount versus the competition.

    Cons

Very combative culture both internally with manager-employee relations and externally with customers. Not a collaborative environment at all. Very hierarchal and arbitrary senior management strategies. They value employee compliance over valid questions. Made a major mistake joining this company because the expectations set during the interview process simply were not accurate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start listening to your employees and your customers.

    Pros

Growing company with young atmosphere and biomedical engineering opportunities. There are lots of post-work activities you can get involved in. The benefits are pretty good, too. the dress code is casual, which is awesome

    Cons

its difficult to move up unless you have a lot of schooling, the people in managerial positions may or may not have the best intentions for your overall well-being and professional growth, the people are young which can lead to immature things happening around the office

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

more time-off and vacation time would be nice for how hard some people work. reward the hard workers so they keep working hard. stop using young people just because you know they'll work hard without paying them accordingly
